Wolfpack2,
It was all spot on. I am happy with the balance.

I passed my CDL driving test today. I asked the examiner (a short, petite lady) if I could get my truck's registration weight changed. Registration says GVW is 8900 pounds. The data plate on the door says 11,500 pounds for GVW.

11,500 pounds would be better for me. GVW for the truck with the trailer, tractor and disc was 9460 lbs. As it stands now, I could get a ticket for the truck being 560 pounds overweight!
The Cat scales says the truck alone weighs 7300 pounds. One ton rating would be 9300 pounds. That would still put me 160 pounds overweight. So I want to make registration weight match the door data plate weight.
hugs, Brandi
Congrats On passing your test!!!! I keep mine current because I can!! Don't really want to get back into the driving field!!

Check this thread for good info. stand up or slide in ramps

I found the perfect trailer for me, 14K, 18' steel deck, 4' pop-up dove tail, with a receiver hitch. A 5' dove tail is too close to the ground for the terraces in the hay field.

For hauling square hay bales, ramps make a back stop. I run a strap from the top end of the ramp, over the hay, to the front of the trailer,

For 8, 5x6 round bales, leave the deck down and ramps hold the last two in place.

For equipment, ramps slide in to match tread width, and support the rear of the trailer when driving on.

Here is my rig from last summer going to the farm in Kentucky from Michigan. 2003 Dodge Ram 2500 V10 4X4 Laramie and 2006 SureTrac Gooseneck. Not much for mileage but a great tow machine with the 4:10 limited slip rear and SuperSprings underneath.

Here is mine. Porsche Cayenne "S" 4.6 V8 that will tow 7800 lbs. I easily tow this all alum enclosed trailer or my 16ft steel trailer with the BX 25 on it. I like the performance, safety and comfort of the Cayenne so much that I just ordered a V6 diesel version for my wife. Went ot the Cayenne as my wife did not want a big truck, we needed something to tow with and I wanted all wheel drive and lots of steel for safety. The current V8 gets 18mpg in town and 23-25 on the road at 65-75 (speed limits in Texas go up to 80MPH legally) Towing 5600lbs (the enclosed trailer with load) I get 12.5-13mpg at 70 MPH The diesel is rated at 26 in town and up to 35 on the highway, some have gotten better. Several reports I have read indicate people are getting up to 18+ towing an enclosed trailer like mine. Looking forward to the diesel and I will then get my "S" back from my wife.

1995 gmc k1500 with the 5.7 liter v8 and a 4l60e auto transmission. it's 4 wheel drive, but the transfer case has been hosed for the last 4 years or so. i keep saying it needs to be fixed, but at 13 mpg town and 16 mpg highway i don't drive it all that much.
