Zen-noh Yanmar 22-24 transmission problem

Yikes! Your not the guy who is afraid to tear into something. Hoping you can find the needed parts. :crossfingers: I appreciate your pictures and keeping us informed.

That's exactly what I was thinking. OP has bigger ones than I do. I guess worst case if you can't find parts you throw em a basket and push them in a corner! :confused2:

Aaron did some research and said the F22 did not give the creep as an option, and based on the engine size he's determined it to be an F24. Good news I suppose, bigger is always better right?!
This sounds like one of those legendary Frankensteinmars assembled from combining whatever was found in the last container of random parts then finishing with a first class repainting.

Hope you get it back together!

With all that wrong unless you get a deal on a parts tractor I think you now have a parts tractor?

"With all that wrong unless you get a deal on a parts tractor I think you now have a parts tractor?"

Not really happy to find out to be true. Pretty much new and figured it would be and mentioned it back on post#9. Should get good money parting it though.....

My money says he gets it going.

If he can source all the required parts he'll get it going...

I don't doubt his skill level to fix this problem. To me its more of a financial decision. If the stories about ring gears costing $2500 are true when they can be had I would think that these gears will cost a good bit if they can be had. Custom gears I would not even think would be an option, if a machine shop can fix anything that's not cast than that's a viable plan. Hope Hoye has one sitting around that he can get the needed parts from.

Ring and pinions are about $600. No doubt gears would be expensive but could still be worth it if available. It will be interesting for all of us to see how it plays out. I am a cheerleader for success. :cool2:

Hoye has a couple F series parts tractors in stock. Winston's gonna win a pot. Parts cost more in labor to get them out of the donors than the parts themselves. They arrive Tuesday or thereabouts and I'll start reassembly in the evenings after the day job. The creeper option is not going back in, gears were not available. That won't affect it operation otherwise.
Thanks for the encouragement. I'm happy to document what I can, as there is very little info here in the US on these rare pieces.
For those in the future reading this.... dive in and go for it. It's not hard to do, does not take any specialized tooling, just a bit of patience, notes, and pictures to put it back together.

Someday I'll tear it all down again and give it a proper restoration. For now, I need it operational so I can build the 30 x 40 shop that I'll use to restore it!! :)
