Zoysia Grass

My father in law planted this 15 years ago. 10 years ago I spent 3 painful days ripping it all out. In Northern VT it was green for may 2 months. It is rough to walk in with bare feet and spreads where you do not want it to. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Hmmm....I'm starting to rethink this. I worried about planting this and watching it go the neighbor's gardens and then on to the farmers fields.......maybe we won't be doing it. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

As a fellow Ohioian, I wouldn't plant it. Use a ryegrass.

I am surprised to hear the reports of how agresive it is. Down here it has to be protected from our agresive grasses. It can't compete.

Example: I planted the Z in a 60 sq yrd area. Only planted 50y figuring the Z would fill in. Nope, it took a month for the wind blown bermuda to cover every inch of bare ground and start infiltrating the Z. Even the place I bought it from called it slow growing and we have a 9+ month growing season. I have aleady had to mow it twice this year.

Fusilade II will remove bermuda from zoysia without major damage to the zoysia.
