2N Ford
Reliable for Minor Use
Model Year: 1947

Tractor is reliable as long as I run the carburetor dry after every use. Only has approximately 22 HP so power is limited. Very adequate for maintaining a gravel road with the box blade attached to the rear of the tractor.

Pros: East to operate.
Cons: Minimal power.

2N Ford
Good Little Tractor with Features Well Ahead of It's Time
Model Year: 1946

PROS: This tractor is incredibly easy to work on and has proven to be very reliable. I have had few issues with this tractor during the time I have owned it. The tractor is ergonomically designed and the basic layout is used in compact tractor design today. The three point hitch is a concept integrated into this tractor that is also used in many tractors today. Considering the amount of time Ford put into designing the original 9N tractor (less than a year from concept to production), the functionality and durability is outstanding. My tractor has the Ford 3-speed transmission with the Sherman Bros. Step-up transmission, giving the tractor 6 forward and 2 reverse gears. CONS: Six volt system has difficulty getting the tractor started in cold weather. It helps to disengage the clutch to reduce the drag created from the cold oil in the transmission case. I am considering a 12-volt conversion.

2N Ford
Family Farm Tractor
Model Year: 1944

This tractor was bought used in 1965 by my father for use on a 40 acre Hobby Farm. He had the engine overhauled and the tractor painted. It was used for many chores around the farm but what it did best was plow the potato field and gardens. My mother gave me the tractor in 1985. Dad passed away in 1983. I use it mostly to plow snow. The Dearborn plow was sold soon after Dad died along with most of the other implements. I restored it in 2012 and am currently keeping my eyes open for a Dearborn plow locally.

Pros: Easy to operate.
Cons: Lack of live hydraulics.

2N Ford
Ford 2n: A Great Little Tractor.
Model Year: 1946

I've used my tractor for a number of tasks. I've plowed and disked with it. Mine has a good loader that I've used for scooping and piling manure. The PTO and 3pt work great. It's currently 64 years old and runs about as good as it did new.

Pros: Very hhandy and versitile tractor. Among the first to have 3pt. For the most part easy to work on.
Cons: The worst design flaw (in my opinion), the distributer is hard to get to (in the front of the motor behind the fan). The seals on the rear wheels on mine leak (It's a major project to fix).
