A Good Workhorse!
Model Year: 1956
I own several older John Deere 2 cyl models - all are in various stages of restoration - but the best one of the whole bunch is my 1956 John Deere 720 Diesel. This tractor has remarkable power and fuel efficiency for its size. Mind you its an old tractor, and they are not built anymore, but in there day the 720 was a big tractor! A little bit of advice though, you must have quite a bit of mechanical knowledge if you want to own a tractor like this. The 720 is not the easiest tractor to operate, as the main engine is started via gasoline powered pony motor. These can be quite troublesome at times, and require a great bit of skill to work on. Parts are not easy to find for the pony motor, and when you do find them you better have a deep pocket! But for the most part, the 720 Diesel is a joy to own and operate, and has plenty of power and weight to do most any job you throw at it.
Pros: Fuel economy, power, stability, & value.
Cons: Parts availability, noise, & starting engine.
