Picture of the snowblower modification to electric chute rotation. The cables need a bit of adjusting yet, but it works slick.

Got the plexiglass cut for the door tonight and installed 2 of 3 pieces. Easy finish job tomorrow...

I love that chute rotator. Gives me an idea....to steal!!:)

Nice snowblower, pre-Buhler Farm-King. What size?? Ours is a 50".

Mine's a 50" too. Definitely pre-Buhler. Picked it up used last fall for $700. Really just stumbled onto it, wasn't even looking for a blower at the time. Happened to spot it while driving through a little town 45 minutes from here, a dealer had it sitting along the road. It's a little beat up, but the Farm King blowers have pretty few moving parts to fail, which is one of the things I liked about it...

That's a steal, considering they are over $2K new. That is also a reason we like the Farm-king line, very few moving parts.

Keeps us posted, I will post pics once Old Man winter shows up too.

Just curious how many less moving parts are there on the farm king that any other snow blower?

I guess there are about the same # of moving parts as most 2-stage blowers. I guess the difference is that the Farm Kings (at least in this size range) kept it simple. The PTO shaft goes straight through to the impeller. ALong the way, there's a set of exposed bevel gears (under a flip-up shield) to drive a shaft running over to the RH side. From there, just a single loop of #50 (I think) roller chain runs the auger. All the bearings are off-the-shelf type sealed bearings held with stamped steel flanges, readily available in any farm store.

Buying used, I liked the easy-to-replace parts, especially the exposed bevel gears instead of some sealed gearbox. Figured with an older used unit, if a special gearbox shelled out, might be tough to replace. Big heavy bevel gears alone can be found or scavanged fairly easily. (i.e. I seem to remember some about that size on the back of an old Deere 6600 combine to run the straw beaters...)

quickie update with some more pics.

Got the plexi in the door and hung it back on the cab. The screen door latch doesn't look like it'll pan out. It isn't doing a good job holding the door shut with the weatherstripping compressed. I'll probably have to add something a little stronger on the inside to keep the door from vibrating open when the tractor's in use... I'll have to give that some thought...

Also installed the hand-operated wiper in the front windshield. Almost had a disaster while drilling the hole for the wiper in the windshield. About halfway through, the bit caught and cracked a chunk out of the plexi! Fortunately, the wiper nuts cover it up, no harm, no foul....so far. We'll have to see if any cracks come wandering out of the now jagged hole in the future... Might try using some solvent glue to sort of melt the hole more smooth, maybe stop the cracks before they start...

Exactly. Ours is the same, new last year.

Auger bearings are greaseless, but I can live with that.

Pics...

The 3rd pic is a shot from the seat out the LH door. From a normal seated position, I can see the edge of the 54" mower deck without leaning over...
