No way!! It's the occasional -40F that keeps my area sparsely populated and keeps my land affordable. Plus, I'll go through a hundred Idaho winters vs. a single Arkansas summer.

I'm sure you'd say just the opposite, though. Different strokes for different folks.

And the cold weather is rejuvenating!!

I have lived in colder climates than arkansas. I have lived in hotter climates than arkansas ever hear the story about goldilox and some bears having something to do with just right ?

I am not worried about doing that. If it gets down to -40 in arkansas you folks that live north of me will be frozen popsicles. I dont remember when the last time I saw it get to 0 degrees F
here.

Daddy's place in southwest Arkansas saw 0 once while I lived there as a kid and another when we came to visit. Any others he failed to mention, but those were cold enough for me!! Talking about it reminds me why I live in Florida!

Amen to that brother

My wife and I went out yesterday afternoon with the dogs to an area just up the road from us, just behind an old abandoned veneer mill, and cut down three perfect sized Christmas trees along with some pine boughs for wreaths.

We went for a two hour hike after we loaded the trees into the truck.
There was 6" of snow on the ground and it was -8C but with our Sorel boots and warm wool clothing it was a great day to be alive and outside.

Thank god there are people that like that kind of weather. Just like their are people that like to be hot. Me I like a little of both. In -8 degrees I would be in my house feeding the woodstove and noticing how pretty the snow is outside. I would not go out of my house until it was back in the +20s at least but I Love to look outside at that kind of weather. Thankfully there are enough different climates for someone to find something they like if they are lucky

I realize we've totally derailed and we're off topic here, but I'll continue the violation anyway...

I've been out camping in tents when the overnight low was -17F. We had a lot of fun. It's all about bringing the right stuff and knowing how to use it.

We brought coolers for the food, and instead of putting in ice we put in those hand warmer packs.

Yes.It should be enough to run your house. Since your water heater is also gas then you shoud get by with even smaller generator. Provided you wouldn't run all the burners, stove and iron in the same time.

-8C is real close to 20F. +20sC is normal room temperature.
