How to use FEL to carry 500lbs up driveway?

hmm -- Are you sure ? I have a document I setup copied info in one place for my BX24 and as per my manual I can lift 1200 lbs on the 3 pt.

I didn't look up the specs for the BX24. I looked for the BX1860 -- which is what the OP has. The BX24 (and the current model, the BX25) may well have a stronger 3PH.

I checked the specs online just now and looked at the manual I have. I have to say I am not surprised at the discrepancy at what I have seen. I am going by info stated in my manual. I see online the specs is same for bx1860 and bx25. go figure! It shows that kubota has another thing not in sync!:(

Couldn't you , if you needed the extra lift take off the bucket and hook up to your QA with your chains? I don't know how much the bucket weighs but it would give you alittle less weight to work with. right?

There no standard quickattach for the BX's. The bucket will shave a mere 130lbs.

If the rear blade is taken off and the chipper attached there may be a need to counterbalance it with a load of some sort in the bucket. Some dirt or metal - even the rear blade suspended by a chain.

My BX2200 gets a bit light in front with a Bearcat 70554 chipper on the 3 PH so some old front end counterweights are placed in the bucket.

Hauling the chipper with the 3 PH would be the preferred method for several reasons. There may have to be some unpacking or assembling in place to get access to the mounting bracket.

I think maybe I might have wrapped a chain unto to the pallet it is likely to be shipped on, and slowly just dragged it up the hill. Got a feeling that thing is no longer sitting down at the end of the OP's drive.:D:D I dunno.

He said it would be delivered Friday and the original post was yesterday so he has a couple of more days to think about it.

Have the truck back up the driveway closer to garage?

Of course, he should use the 3-pt to lift it as the first choice.

But any Kubota FEL can lift it, too. All those FEL specs are for the
capacity at the max height. For example, the LA211 above can lift about
211kg, or about 460#. That means it can probably lift as much as 750#
to 6-inches off the ground, using the boom alone (not the bkt cyl).

I agree that a counter-weight (front or rear) is essential for such a small
tractor.

I picked up a BX42 chipper from dealer last fall and had them load it on my trailer (typical 5 x 8 bed). They had no problem. I have a BX2200. I put on my set of forks (Bxpand type) and used lifting straps to hook onto the lifting eyelet...... no go! Then I got the straps as close as I could to the bucket and used a little bit of curl and had the loader lift as high as it could. It lifted no problem at that point and just cleared the angle iron sides of the trailer. I did not have any counterweight on the back of the machine. Front tire pressure I keep high normally after breaking the bead seal a few times at recommended pressure. I think the chipper is either 420 or 480 lbs. But the key thing was keeping the load close to the bucket. Once it gets past the bucket you are out of luck. If it is on a pallet and trying to lift the pallet would be tough with my forks. Removing it from something high like a truck would be fun too.
