Pine, no one gets custom cylinders made. A standard cylinder is used with modified ends. Yes you can swap your side links around. Most likely you will need a 2" cylinder with a 4" stroke and you have it easy since you already have the factory ends to weld on.

Pine, I think that usually the manually adjusted side link is kept on so that the 3pt can be adjusted so that the hydraulic side link is at 1/2 of its stroke when a rear blade (any blade) is mounted. That way you always have an equal amount of tilt available left or right. It is difficult to have a hydraulic tilt that would just fit on and be exactly at the half way point. You usually have to do some adjustment of the manually adjusted side link to end up this way. This manual adjustment should normally be 1/2" or less.[/quote

OK, does this mean...because ( Let's Say) my side links (adjustable right, solid left) are unique to their perspective sides...that to have an optomized setup...I will need to power the left side replacing the solid rod so I still have the adjustable on the right?

OK good to know...I kept seeing "custon cylinders" when I was looking at T& T kits and I figured that there was not too much to customize other than the ends...

Pine, you can put the hydraulics on either side or both. Fitting the clevis to work is an easy task for anyone in this business.

MtViewRanch,

No problems with full tilt, this is with the left adjuster wound up short and the hydraulic cylinder on the right fully extended. Here are some old pics of my boxblade in the full tilt position, normally I would use the rear blade in this configuration.

Steve,(is that ok?) what is your normal configuration, how do you have your side links set? I think that Rob has 8" or 10" stroke cylinders, I wonder if he has any problems. Here is a pic of mine in full tilt with the side links set at the 1/2 way point for the hydraulic. I'm guessing that I have a total range of movement a little over 2' in this configuration.

Brian,

I have the plane on my tractor right now and will take some pictures in the daylight tomorrow with the adjustable links in the various positions for you. It is a little to dark right now.

I will be adding T & T in the Spring...I am currently accumulating the parts...

On some setups I see the hydraulic cylinder on the right sides (normally where the manually adjustable link is)...leaving the non-adjustable link on the left side...

...In other cases I have seen the cylinder on the left leaving the adjustable link on the right... in others I have seen the cylinder on the right with the manually adjustable link moved to the left side...

Is this just personal preference? Is there any advantage to leaving a manually adjustable link on the opposite side from the hyd. ?

It's personal preference.

Mostly personal preference, but I find it easier to look over my right shoulder to work a rear implement. So with the tilt cylinder on the right side works for me. The best way to go and what I am fixing to do is have tilt cylinders on both side where they oppose each other. That way you get the full range of tilt in either direction. As simple as adding another tilt cylinder and a couple of hoses.

Is this what you have in mind? http://www.tractorbynet.com/forums/hydraulics/161377-hydraulic-side-link-idea-am.html

Close, but I was going to try this with the matching cylinders in series. My concern about placing them in parallel is that when the valve is in nuetral and the cylinder ports are locked that you still have the oil free to circulate between the cylinders.

I am hoping that with the cylinders in series and all air bled from the system that the cylinders will be locked in place when the cylinder valve is in nuetral position.

Did you ever try this and what did you find?
