Well, for those of us who pull camping or horse trailers on long trips, a nice interior is attractive. We actually find our C-3500 more comfortable for long trips than the Jeep Grand Cherokee. If I have to buy something expensive to get the hauling ability I need, I at least want it to be comfortable.
Well, my local dealer has 2 of them...went at looked at them and they are identically equipped F350 FX4 XLT SRW CC LWB 6.7L PS w/3.31 lockers (that's a lot of acronyms)...$56,897.00 all inclusive (tax, dealer prep, etc.) best price out the door...nice truck and I love my Fords, but something about the new front end is going to have to grow on me...kinda like having an ugly dog...you know it's not pretty, but you get attached to it. I have a 2005 F350 Lariat with the same paint scheme and looking at them side by side I like mine better...have to admit, having the title to mine makes the 2011 less attractive...right now I think Dodge (ugh, hate to admit it) has it covered in the looks dept., but only looks.
Yes, the second dealer i went to wouldn't budge off msrp so i didn't even want to drive it (didn't want to show him i was interested) i guess we'll have to wait a couple of months for the "hype" to dye down for them to start dealing.Well, my local dealer has 2 of them...went at looked at them and they are identically equipped F350 FX4 XLT SRW CC LWB 6.7L PS w/3.31 lockers (that's a lot of acronyms)...$56,897.00 all inclusive (tax, dealer prep, etc.) best price out the door...nice truck and I love my Fords, but something about the new front end is going to have to grow on me...kinda like having an ugly dog...you know it's not pretty, but you get attached to it. not to start an argument but everyone is fixed on the price of these trucks, they do make other models. stopped by another dealer today in gonzales and he had a new xlt model. It was priced at 51k. . . i know that that is till a lot of $ $ $ $ $ but here is what you got 6.7, cloth seats, center console, 20" wheels 4wd, xlt package (think that got you power mirrors, power seats, and auto lights with some other stuff. this truck did NOT have the tail gate step.
i think it had a $250 charge for nicer paint.
I sure the xl model will be less and again if you don't get the 6.7 you can save $7800
what i'm getting at here is that you don't have to buy one of the top of the line trucks if you don't want to and to say that all the fru fru (spelling) stuff on a Step up truck is not necessary i ask you this
Do you really need that cab on your tractor. . . 50 years ago men did real work on their tractors with no cab, no a/c, no fm radio with 6 disk cd changer. heck how many tractors 50 years ago had FEL on them. . . man those FEL are for sissies "back in my day we did it with a wheelbarrow"
all that top and tilt isn't necessary get your lazy butt off the tractor and use those muscles turn that top link.
i can go on and on but i think you get it. For me I want that leather heated and cooled seat, i want a couple extra cup holders, i want my dual zone a/c. I want to sit higher than the next guy so i can see traffic. i want all the goodies i can afford in a truck. I want to enjoy my camping trip, i want to get to the job site in comfort and when i'm tired from riding the tractor and all beat up from working the field a little pampering on the way home is nice. So what if i only use it for towing once a month, i don't want to own a nice car and a old truck and if i'm going to have a truck i want a nice one. after all it is my money.
i will try to get out and snap some of the xlt (that one is close to me) as for the f450 from what i read, last years 450 had heaver rear springs with 350 front springs, or the other way around, but this year they have the same suspension as the 350 but come with taller gears, and a tighter turning radius. There are a few other changes but i don't remember what they are.Big Bri -
I'm with ya. I like to have all the creature comforts on my trips as well. 63K IS a lot of money, but my 06 F350 PSD King Ranch stickered at 55K....just an unfortunate sign of the times. I didn't buy mine new, but a year old with 3K miles, and saved 15K.
Does anyone have any pics of these rigs? I'm stuck overseas for the next few weeks, can't really swing by the dealer to have a looksee....
And, is the 450 offered in a dually King Ranch pickup? Is it the same tranny as the 350, with just more rear suspension?
