DK40SE Squeal When Moving in Reverse.

...is your machine a CAB unit or ROPS. I see that both myself and kaddywupus have the CAB maybe this has something to do with it. Also do both of your have the backhoe KB2485? ...

This is getting even more interesting - and unfortunately sounding more frequent too.
My tractor is a CAB model and I do not have a backhoe (would love one but ... not yet anyway) and the noise is consistent once the fluid warms up.

Anybody with an open station DK40/45/50se have this problem? Open station models must outnumber the cab versions by a fair margin so there should be some noisy ones unless it is an issue possibly related to the cab or changes made since the cab models came out.

I think the backhoe is only a factor in warming up the hydraulic fluid. While I work the backhoe the sound does not occur. The HST must be used. Keep in mind if you hit the reverse pedal and the transmission in neutral the sound will still occur because you engaged the HST but the transmission is disengage. When the sound occurs it can be heard outside of the cab. Before the temp fix you could easily hear the squeal several hundred feet away.

I will be happier with my backhoe once the upside down frame and leaking hose issues are resolved. It's been a month now since I learned about the backhoe issues and almost 3 month since I reported the sound the first day I used the tractor.

I have a DK50HST with ROPS. Mine will make a squealing noise only every now and then. It mostly happens in reverse. I haven't contacted the dealer yet. Tonight I put my 6 ft. Gannon box blade on it with all 8 ripper blades down to see if it would rip up the area. I put it in low and 4 wheel drive. The tractor would not spin the tires, just pull the engine down some and relieve on the HST pressure relief. After this, the squeal was noticeable in High range, forward and reverse. Is this what is happening to yours?

No, not in forward with a load or not. I have used both a 6' box box blade and scraper blade. The only time it makes the squeal going forward is after an hour or so when I'm going slow down a hill. This action reverse loads the HST.

You're not crazy- it is the guy at the dealership who is giving you a hard time for NO fault of yours
I just upgraded my 1 year old DK-35se/hst to a 2010 DK-40sehst open( no cab), and it started this afternoon squealing like a run over cat! D**n!
I do not currently have my KB-2485 backhoe attached, but have my Igland 4001 winch running off my 3pt hitch.
I was cutting some trees around my flip house and had the tractor at idle for quite some time- maybe 30 minutes or so and when I went to use again it I noticed the high pitched squeal- sort of like a seized bearing or pump and was surprised to hear it, hoping the factory had actually installed all the fluids!?
Now the tractor had 3 hours on it when I received it at my door, no cab, no backhoe, no stress on the new tractor since I'm taking it easy and slow for the first 20hours or more anyway so things can break in properly.
So I'd have to conclude from everything I've read so far this is a problem that Kioti is aware of but seems to not have the solution to - YET!
It seems it affects some tractors and not all and since the engines are the same all the way up to the 50 from the 40, it is likely an internal part or something that is used on some but not likely all of the similar models. For instance a pressure relief valve that is supplied by two or three different manufactures but is somehow slightly different in its design or some other factor that affects the specific tractors that had it installed at the factory. I will be contacting my dealer tomorrow morning. Please all keep posting until we get this resolved- and Katty w, don't give up- it will get fixed!

I have a DK50se cab and it does the same thing. It has not affected the performance in any way but it does bother an operator after a while. I have notified my dealer and he has given me pretty much the same info as all of yall have received. I think the best hing we can do is stay on our dealers about this issue so our dealers will stay on Kioti.

So now we have cab and non cab versions of the new DK series making the noise but I don't believe we have any reports from tractors built before 2009 or so. Doesn't that make it likely that Kioti changed something in design or part supplier in the past year or so and shouldn't that help them narrow down what the issue is? Are there any reports from the Bobcat CT400 series owners?

By the way, congratulations Coyote on your new 40se. I'm sure you will love it (once the noise goes away:laughing.
