My B-I-L's NH doesnt have a clutch. Stall the engine some time and you will see the advantage of having a clutch. His was stuck in gear and had to wait till hydro pressure bleed off before he could shift and start. Wasnt a big deal at the time, he wasnt on a railroad track with a train coming, but it did take a little bit for it to bleed off.

JD load match!! never ever stalled my Ehydro machine!

Should be on everyone's wish list who doesn't have it :)

Sometimes I push my BX23 to the limit and wish the limit was a little higher.

It was a little tippy on my hill property and having the rear tires foam filled made a world of difference both in stability and better all around performance when moving heavy loads with the bucket and using the backhoe.

About the only thing I was a little disappointed about was getting 3 flats in 4 weeks... just thought the tires could be a little more robust... not a problem now that they are foam filled.

What's "foam filled"? Is this some type of special product? Is it common? I have heard about "loaded" tires, but though it was water with some type of agent to keep it from freezing.

I don't like a clutch on an HST tractor such as on Kubota. I can live with it, but don't see the point.

Another dumb question...but why is there a clutch on HST transmission...I thought HST was so you don't need to have a clutch?

I wish My JD 4310's CX 300 loader was self leveling, also wish I had a 2 speed pto.

JB

When does a two-speed PTO come in handy?

Foamed tires gives you two benefits...

It adds weight, just like loading the tires, but without liquid and a foam filled tire will never go flat since the foam takes the place of air.

So, it's two benefits for the price of one.

The downside is there is not as much cushion from the tires when roading the tractor... Not a problem from me since 95% of my work is on dirt.

Beats the heck out of me. Kubota recommends using the clutch when changing ranges, but I can't tell any difference as it is easy both ways.

What if a branch or sapling got jammed into the HST pedal's linkage & caused it to be stuck on full "go"?

Nevermind, you could always turn the key off.

Maybe it's for towing it? Mine has a little "catch" so you can press the clutch pedal in & use the catch to hold it down.

On my HST Kubota the clutch is used to shift between low, medium, and high speed although I have no trouble doing shifting without it ( probably not good to do ) . More importantly it is needed to engage the PTO properly.

Then why don't they all have them, even my 2660 doesn't have one.

Again, I don't use the clutch to engage the PTO on my 5030, BX2660, JD2305 or M8540.

It doesn 't remove the fact that that is one of its uses. Just like I can shift speeds without. Doesn 't mean it should be done. Given that the addition of a clutch is a production cost representing a price increase I doubt most companies would add an unnecessary cost and operator procedure that might reduce sales. If the manual says it is there and use it for certain purposes, it would be wise to do so.
