What are you riding??

I've always been a fan of yamaha though, if at the time they would have had an automatic with IRS, I would be riding a Yamaha. My brother and dad have a 93' big bear and an 84 moto 4 that have been bullet proof! The only thing they have ever had to do is put new tires on once the old ones wore out.

In the past 4 mo I have bought 3 Yamaha quads: I got a deal on a
late 90s 350 Grizzly and a late 90s 350 Warrior that were in storage. I
drove them on some trails, but I got them for a friend. The Grizzly was
a nice mid-size 4x4, but it has the 5sp semi-auto tranny that is typical
of most quads. The Warrior is a sporty-quad with hand clutch. I found
the latter to be more maneuverable than the Grizz....I definitely prefer the
m/c style clutch over the semi-auto. The reverse failed, however, and now
it needs work.

The 03 BearTracker I just bought is very nice and quiet, and only 2 years
old. I have only a couple hours on it when the seal behind the pull starter
failed. :-( Thankfully, most of the OEM parts seem to be only half of the
Honda prices!

I just got the old tires off my Honda 300.....wow that was tough! I had
to weld up a jig for my 20T press to break the bead.

Yamaha is your best bet, cvt, irs, more ergonomical than any other quad. The most important being the locker in the front end.

don't waist your time on a 4 wheeler just splurge and get a nice sidexside.you can take the wife and dog for a ride and sit right next to here plus you get the advantage of having a bed to haul stuff in.i would sugest the rhino because it's narrow and it does pretty good offroad..you can get one for just about the same price as a 4 wheeler that can't do half as much.i had a few 4 wheelers but after getting a sidexside i never looked back.stay away from polaris they are made really cheap and are really wide so they won't fit on most trails .i'm redoing a razor right now and from seeing what these things are made of it's a wonder they hold up .well most don't hold up they break down .the rhino is the best best get the 700 or the 450 the 450 has a low gear ratios that puts it in just about the same power range as the 700.i don't know if the 450's come with efi but if they don't just look for a 700 with efi.

Thanks for the info on the Rhinos. I am single, so no real need for that extra seat. Got a cabbed tractor to do the chores with, so the ATV would be a pleasure toy. But if the price was right, I would love a small Rhino.

In FEB, I tried out a near-new Foreman with electric shift. It was owned by a
friend, so it was more than just a short test drive. It worked OK, but
a full auto trans is way better, IMO.

the honda automatics are nice but in the mud they suck .with wtih a manual skifter because sometimes you need to stay in a lower gear but the honda will sgift into a higher gear when not needed and put extra strain on the engine..i would still stick with my sugestion of the rhino .it's just as wide if now narrowr than a 4 wheeler and the tranny with full time 4x4 mode you can't beat it .like you said if the price is right grab it you won't regret it.

Polaris Ranger 400 4x4 is a smaller side x side or the RZR if you are going to ride 4wheeler trails. I wouldnt suggest the side x sides if your going to be in tight trails except the RZR!! I own the artic cat prowler and its been a good one(1500mi.)

Nice!! :)

That would be tight on the trails, same with an SXS. Plus, the only one that will fit in the back of a truck is the Polaris 400. Do not want to lug a trailer with me if I decide to take a road trip. And if I did use a trailer, the tractor would be on it!! :)
