What are you riding??

I've always been a fan of yamaha though, if at the time they would have had an automatic with IRS, I would be riding a Yamaha. My brother and dad have a 93' big bear and an 84 moto 4 that have been bullet proof! The only thing they have ever had to do is put new tires on once the old ones wore out.

In the past 4 mo I have bought 3 Yamaha quads: I got a deal on a
late 90s 350 Grizzly and a late 90s 350 Warrior that were in storage. I
drove them on some trails, but I got them for a friend. The Grizzly was
a nice mid-size 4x4, but it has the 5sp semi-auto tranny that is typical
of most quads. The Warrior is a sporty-quad with hand clutch. I found
the latter to be more maneuverable than the Grizz....I definitely prefer the
m/c style clutch over the semi-auto. The reverse failed, however, and now
it needs work.

The 03 BearTracker I just bought is very nice and quiet, and only 2 years
old. I have only a couple hours on it when the seal behind the pull starter
failed. :-( Thankfully, most of the OEM parts seem to be only half of the
Honda prices!

I just got the old tires off my Honda 300.....wow that was tough! I had
to weld up a jig for my 20T press to break the bead.

Yamaha is your best bet, cvt, irs, more ergonomical than any other quad. The most important being the locker in the front end.

Anyone riding a Honda Electric shift?? There is a 2007 Foreman 500ES for sale, only 1200 miles on it.

don't waist your time on a 4 wheeler just splurge and get a nice sidexside.you can take the wife and dog for a ride and sit right next to here plus you get the advantage of having a bed to haul stuff in.i would sugest the rhino because it's narrow and it does pretty good offroad..you can get one for just about the same price as a 4 wheeler that can't do half as much.i had a few 4 wheelers but after getting a sidexside i never looked back.stay away from polaris they are made really cheap and are really wide so they won't fit on most trails .i'm redoing a razor right now and from seeing what these things are made of it's a wonder they hold up .well most don't hold up they break down .the rhino is the best best get the 700 or the 450 the 450 has a low gear ratios that puts it in just about the same power range as the 700.i don't know if the 450's come with efi but if they don't just look for a 700 with efi.

Thanks for the info on the Rhinos. I am single, so no real need for that extra seat. Got a cabbed tractor to do the chores with, so the ATV would be a pleasure toy. But if the price was right, I would love a small Rhino.

In FEB, I tried out a near-new Foreman with electric shift. It was owned by a
friend, so it was more than just a short test drive. It worked OK, but
a full auto trans is way better, IMO.

the honda automatics are nice but in the mud they suck .with wtih a manual skifter because sometimes you need to stay in a lower gear but the honda will sgift into a higher gear when not needed and put extra strain on the engine..i would still stick with my sugestion of the rhino .it's just as wide if now narrowr than a 4 wheeler and the tranny with full time 4x4 mode you can't beat it .like you said if the price is right grab it you won't regret it.

Polaris Ranger 400 4x4 is a smaller side x side or the RZR if you are going to ride 4wheeler trails. I wouldnt suggest the side x sides if your going to be in tight trails except the RZR!! I own the artic cat prowler and its been a good one(1500mi.)

Nice!! :)

That would be tight on the trails, same with an SXS. Plus, the only one that will fit in the back of a truck is the Polaris 400. Do not want to lug a trailer with me if I decide to take a road trip. And if I did use a trailer, the tractor would be on it!! :)

I been running a 06 Honda Rancher 350 4x4 ES only thing I purchased extra was a 2500 winch and am just as happy with it to-day as when I bought it, never any problems and easy to take care of.

My prowler will fit in the back of my buddies 05 Dodge 3/4 ton long wheelbase bed,but not my 00 ford 3500

i would disagree with the razor i have been redoing one and they are made really cheap besides the rhio is just as narrow as te razor but has a bigger bed and a certifieds rops.i have 4 friends with razors and they shore to never buy another one becaue of the breakdowns.

I also have many friends with them(RZR) and they have put them in alot of stuff very happy with!!!! They are just as narrow(as the rhino u say) but the top aint. There is no way the rhino will go were they will(The roll cage it what gets you).I have a prowler I have road with them, whats the rhino law suit about havent heard any of the others having the same suit. My prowler will out run my buddies stock rhino but Im not in here raving about them!!!!!!

the rhino siuts are stupid because it's people not wearing seat belts or just plain sticking their hands out when they roll over not i find it hard to see why polaris hasn't been sued because their roll cage isn't designed for a roll over.. i still havevmy buddys razor over here i'll tane some pics of both to show you just how chealy they are made. another bad thing about the razor is as long as your idoling your burning up your belt.the belt doesn'r grab till you give it gas not a good design at all.

Isnt the kawasaki the same way,I think they all tell you to kill them while setting for along period of time for that reason(why leave it running if your just setting still anyways).Im not sure if my prowler is that way but if im going to stop for a bit i kill it anyways.

the kawasaki could be the same way i don't know .i know mt hpx and my rhino the belt turned all the time .i guess the best thing of keeping it running is when your stuck and the exhuast is ubder water so you surely don't wanna shut it off plus when working with them getting in and out most people just leave them running instead of start&stops all the time.

Well guys, call me poor or call me practical, but I just use an old Murray riding lawnmower without the deck. It pretty much does all I need it to do. It pulls my log splitter around, pulls my little trailer around in the garden when I'm gathering vegatables, and so forth. I guess I don't have a lot more stuff I need to do with anything bigger or more powerful. I used it as a mower for almost 15 years, and now it's my ATV!

Im sure if your doing that kinda mudding and in that deep of water your asking for problems with any ATV/UTV on the market. I can go to the local shop and I bet you will find one of each brand in there.

Kodiak 450. I have an 03 and have had that thing to sand dunes in Glamis, hunting the back ranges of Colorado, tooling around, etc. Rolled that thing 3 times. Twice when I was on narrow log roads in Colorado. One of those was an end over end down a 35 degree slope at least 40 yards. Each time I rolled that thing I went down, rolled it back up on the wheels and it fired up. The only damage was to the racks. Tough machines. Auto, efi, and with a warn 2500lb winch.
One of my better investments.
