I am sure someday I won't be able to live w/o a "beast" as well, of which I must admit, I didn't realize your tractor was so big initially as well, for now were good with a lil tiny run all day on just a few gallons of fuel, fit thru a 49" opening BX25 . Thank you for this thread and posting up pics. It helped me make up my mind as to what I am going to do. After a lot of rig-a-ma-rolling around and him-hawing I decided to go w/ a Fasse valve, a valve that I believe is not known to the general public to well yet, at least I didn't see it in Fasse's webazine. When I have it in hand I will post pics of it in my GrappleOmatic thread.

So as not to hijack your quality thread I invite you over to see my lil project HERE. I will be watching this cool build up! Your doing a great job. Sometimes the best man for a job is a woman, my wife is the best helper I have ever had and I kid you not. I have tought many a man the difference between 1/2, 3/4, 1, 1.25, 1.5 and 2" Gal, Black, Copper, PVC etc et al and few remembered it, she does and remeber where things go? men want to just pile it all, she puts stuff back in it's place.

Hopefully you will make a UTube of it working when done and keep the pics coming !

I don't think I will do You tube. Doing a video for Mahindra tractors was enough seeing me on video.

I got the valve mounted after making and installing a shim for clearance for the lower forward swivel fitting to screw in. The upper forward fitting has a swivel straight out, allowing the 90 to be right beside the threads of the lower fitting. Easy installation with swivels everywhere. I ran the loader this evening with it plumbed through the valve and no surprises. Earlier I had swung the "yellow" disconnected line over the engine while connecting the "red" line to the valve. I did not realize fluid spilled out over the starter until after running the loader and leak checking my fittings. At first I thought I blew another steering elbow or line. But as I removed the side cowl I realized it was just fluid from the disconneted line. Oh well, at least I had my saftey glasses on when I leak checked my work!

The valve is working correctly. After leak check, I removed the capped ports and they were dry. I will install these fittings when I get the lines. These ports are the switched ports to the grapple.

I did have to remove two lines from the hose sock. Does anyone know where I can buy another hose sock???

Tomorrow I start wiring the switch, relay, and valve.

I made the cross tube cover QD mounting bracket last week and installed it on the cover. I had made it with one QD over the other QD, with holes for the 1/2 inch pipe threads. I was planning on shimming the fittings to get just the right combination of no leaks and tight in the bracket. A good online friend told me to spring the extra $$ for bulkhead fittings. So today I made Revision #1 to the QD bracket and mounted the 3/8 inch JIC bulkhead fittings. The knotch in the bracket was the lower hole for the 1/2 pipe threads. After ordering all these fittings online and paying express shipping to get it for the weekend......to "finish", I learned it is best to buy local and pay more, then buy cheap and pay shipping, only to ship them back as you need to do it another way. I am lucky to have a full service hydraulic shop about 10 minutes away. I am thinking of adding a support bracket for the big QDs on the crosstube, as they seem to really hang out there. They are large, heavy and expensive, but don't leak a drop and have stood up well on the backhoe curl lines where I connect the hyd. auger. I went with these years ago when the QDs I got from TSC leaked.

I made the bracket from 8" x 5" x .125" flat sheet steel and bent it up at work on the brake. I used holesaws and boelube on the drillpress at work to poke the large holes for the 1/2 inch threads and just drilled the holes out to 9/16 inch at home, for the revision, with my Makita 18 volt cordless drill. It did get a little warm!

Yeah that is the stuff. But Discount Hyd. Hose will not ship less than a $20 purchase. I found that out when they would not sale me one long, long elbow fitting.

Brandi might not it shorten things up, and add another level of "stoutness", if you ditched the bushing and 3/8 bulkhead assembly and swap'd in a 1/2" bulkhead? Then reduce to 3/8 on the other side? If there is enough meat left in your bracket it might behoove you to do that. That lil 3/8" nipple is your Achilles heal.

That is why I said I want to install a support bracket. I am an Aircraft Mechanic that specializes in sheetmetal. I know what happens to unsupported heavy stuff. I am going to take the crosstube cover off and take it to work next week. I will make a custom, riveted, support bracket that will be right behind the QDs. This will work.:thumbsup: I stake my reputation and 34 years of tin bending experience on it.

Looks good, Brandi. I, too, tried to buy some hose protectors from
DHH, but it was back-ordered so I canceled and used plastic flex conduit.
Although they now use the small USPS prepaid boxes to ship, they still
charge $10 minimum shipping.

Just a suggestion, but if you install one male and one female QA fitting
on your bulkhead, you can not connect your PHD backwards. And you
can connect the fittings together on the PHD when it is off the FEL.
