hey triple r, what exactly is it you're harvesting in the thumbnails? :)

Giant Ragweed and a mix of brush and other weeds plus a rail road tie and a couple of target stands one of my sons or grandson forgot to put away.

What's the difference between MX5100 and MX5100DT? Are they any good?

Yes, I love mine with 220 hours on it now. The MX is on the 5740 Grand L frame. It is a turbocharged 51 hp. It is a great value tractor if you don't want/need a cab. Some guys have had issues with a jerky 3 point lift, but mine is flawless to-date. The HST is a must if you are going to do much loader work or mowing in tight places. It is a hydrostatic drive. The DT is geared. If you are going to use a loader at all 4WD is a must. The geared version has more useful power for ground engaging (plowing) and is less expensive. This is my second Kubota and I am a fan. They have a great dealer network and keep their value for resale.

I'm another happy owner of a MX 5100hst. I couldn't justify the extra cost of the 5140 for what I'm doing on my place. My tractor logs, bushogs, grades the drive, pulls a square baler, and even loads out round bales on my friends place. It replaced an old Ford 3600.

i wouldnt trade for my MX5100 HST at all.it has spent the winter putting out hay flwlessly.i run a 5ft heavy bushhog on it with no probs.an it does a great job unloading the hay hauler.

My 5040 was a great tractor,I wish I could have kept it and got the cab 7040. The 5040 handled my 8ft pull-type just fine, and spent some time pulling a 15ft batwing. My co-worker bought a 5140 after what I put the 5040 threw time and time again, tractor held up great sold it with 300+hrs on it... I have some pics of it working if you won't to see them...

What would be a fair price for new MX 5100 4x4 w/fel? Really looking at going that route

If you go with the HST probably around 30 with the tier 4 emission control. If you can locate one with the tier 3 package it will save you a several thousand dollars. Also, it also depends upon which bucket you want with the loader, loader guide rods, work lights, etc. Nicely equipped with tier 4 will probably come in around mid 30's. Check with your dealer(s).

Good luck.
