i agree. i'd like to see some long spots at the lumber yards and other stores where it would be normal for a contractor.. or someone with a truck / trailer to get a spt near the loading dock.

It would be nice if "trucks only" spots were made available, I live in a farming community and the big diesels are a necessity not a fashion statement and it is a bear getting them into the small spaces. I can pretty much bet people would be parking cars in them for the added room and protection from being banged up by opening doors.

I have a normal size stock pickup but that's all I need.

I agree, people are LAZY and often inconsiderate.

I have an F-150 Crewcab...definitely not the biggest truck around, but it sure is a PITA to park in many parking lots. Seems like parking spot are getting smaller these days...or is that just me?

all the new shopping centers in my area have spaces so small, and isle's soooo close together.. that i have to 3pt turn alomst to wedge my diesel into a spot. then i am sticking out 3-4' PAST all the other lunch-box cars in the isle.

And the size of the spaces are ridiculous ESPECIALLY at hardware stores!
At Lowes or HD my Civic or Jetta fit fine. My dually sits like a Mississippi mama in an airline seat with both sides hanging over.

yup. there is a breakfast restaurant in a city up from me i meet friends at on sunday morn sometimes. they must not have dot reg spaces. in their lot. my 350 dually with stock tires and fenderwells sets OUTSIDE the white lines on each side of the parking spt. thus i usually try to park on an edge, and hang 1 set of dual rears into the grass, that way my other set is inside the lines. otherwise i'm effetively eating 3 spots.. unless a smartcar parks on either side of me.

mines no fashion statement either.. she's a worker for my farm. my 450 almost never leaves the yard without a trailer on her, unless she is going for a fuel up.. or is going to MOVE/pickup a trialer..e tc.

Funny you said that - I used to have a long bed but got a bit tired of 3pt turns every time we went shopping - bought the 6.5' bed this time just to make things a bit simpler, 8' is nice but I didn't have to have it.....

i still need it for boards, lumber.. and having 3 tool boxes in the bed plus a round bale of hay.. or 20+ bags of feed.

i deffinately see a trend towards minicars.

i just don't like their survivability in fenderbenders. what would be a 150$ bumper on a big truck can be a 'total' on a 12000$ microcar...

The parking spots all boil down to money. They have to have a certain number of parking spots per codes, small ones take up less space, less grading and asphalt = cheaper. The bigger the parking lot the more stormwater control they will be required to have, that costs money as well.

Thanks, it's a 62 needle nose 281 with a tag axle, the rears fit in a compact parking spot. We took it to dinner during our tractor show here in southern ca.
