So try it in 'kill' and see if it will let you crank the engine.

Yeah I tried that too but no change.. this is startimg to get on my last nerve haha but am grateful for your guidance..

I'm glad to help and would LOVE to have one of those machines, so getting her going has a 'thrill' factor for me - more of a vicarious thrill than real thrill, but nonetheless a fun kinda thing.

So let's evaluate. You have a known good battery, ignition switch and starter and solenoid. You have been able to crank her over with the ignition circuit disengaged. Does it have the optional oil pressure/sensor switch?

Don't give up! You're close to getting it done. You need to find where the 12 volt supply through to the ignition drops off. You're absolutely sure the fused wire is good, not open? if you put a test light to battery ground and poke the wire above where the fuse is the light lights?

Yeah i know were so close. I feel lucky to have such a good neighbor that he is willing to let me use it. We have about $250 into parts already so we have to make it happen. Not to mention I have 20-30 stumps to destroy. :)

Ok it's been raining most of the day but now letting up. I am going to go over there and spend some time running through more tests and will document for reporting. I'll see if I can find a test light as well.

This has a red wire coming out of the ignition switch and the white wire goes to the hour meter + spade. when connected pos on voltmeter to battery and neg to the white wire I see 12.4 beacuse its grounded out. When I flip the kill switch off it drops to 4.2. Same results when testing directly to the kill switch as well as through wiring harness. It seems based on this the kill switch is working fine and wiring is good but what is that thing called?

Also the fused wire on the switch goes down to the solenoid but when testung between a ground on battery and the fused wire I get nothing when key is run or start mode. Is this expected? Seems so since bypassing the wiring and going directly to the solenoid gives same results.

I have a pic of solenoid and starter but tbn android app keeps crashing when adding it. Will try from Pc in a bit.anyway When testing between the battery wire on the solenoid to the ground I get 12.4 but pos on either of the other two wires (blue and red) on the solenoid there is no reading.

The yellow painted thing you show in this single pic looks like it could be the oil switch I asked about. I can't tell where it's located from the switch, but if you connect those two wires together, if you can get them removed from the 'oil pressure switch' what happens to the key switch, (ignition circuit)?

I'm hoping that the round yellow thing is the oil pressure switch and it is not functioning, or because the wires are painted it could have a bad connection. Either way, if you connect red and white together, even under the same screw on the switch it hopefully will complete the circuit and allow you to use the key switch to turn the engine over....
Just use some sandpaper to clean the wire terminal ends so they are nice and shiny with no paint.

this is located on the front of the engine just above the oil filter so it could very well be the oil pressure switch odd though that it connects to the hour meter. It looks like paint was sprayed at the end of assembly after they installed all the wiring. i'll try connecting the two wires together tomorrow. thanks!
