These are my very rough...rough..."blueprints" for what I had in mind. The base deck will be pressure treated wood and the sides will be red...only instead of "Radio Flyer" I want to find some good IH or Farmall decals to put on and throw some clear coat over them. This will be on a Kory 3000 bed. I say that only because, I think at this point that is what I am going to go for. Any thoughts on layout will be appreciated!

Here I have added color to help me measure out what I will need for supplies. I am sure you can figure out what colors mean what...the only thing I could not find a good color for is the 4 x 6 stringers attached tot he frame. If it is 4 feet wide, I will shoot for 2 x 10's for decking. Will be tight, but may work...Side.jpgTop View.jpg

Last year I built a farm wagon from scratch. Purchased the running gear ( Horst ) from a local dealer and got a set of wagon bed plans off the internet. The neat thing is you can build exactly what you want/need. Mine is 8'x12' and carries 20,000 lb. It is not a difficult build and I would say that a 4'x8' with 4 ton capacity could easily be constructed for under $2000. Mine cost a little less than $3000.View attachment 335886View attachment 335887View attachment 335888
I'm not too good at uploading pics, so I hope this works.

My other problem is space...wish I had more of it! I only have a small gate to my back yard where this will be parked. I have to keep it under 6'wide...preferably narrower...it is a fairly tight fit back there, so, it cannot be much wider than the cub.

I made mine wide enough for 2 lawn chairs and long enough for 3. I bought the gear from Northern Tool. It's really cheap but it is about 12 years old and all I have done to it was add tubes to the tires. I wish I had went with a better and stronger gear, the next time I will. For the deck I used 5 quarter deck flooring.

We also used 5/4 decking on our full size wagon. Works very well so far.

Can't tell for sure, but this one looks like it was built using mini-van axles turned over.

This is very close to what I want to build. As I said, it will be built on a 4' x 8' bed on a Kory 3000 running gear. I think I will go with the Kory. The EZ Trail is nice too, but the narrow one is a little narrower than the Kory and the wide one is a little too wide for my gate width to put it in my back yard. I would also make the side gates just a little higher...maybe tow 1 x 8 planks high, so people can lean against them. Nice job though!
