The big question I have is did the ram have the 68rfe or the Aisin in the test? The Aisin has an advantage for pulling I bet ford used the 68rfe equipped ram. Plus the Aisin equipped ram has 50 ftlbs more torque.
The Aisin has the following gears
1st 3.750
2nd 2.000
3rd 1.340
4th 1.000
5th .770
6th .630
The 68rfe has
1st 3.23
2nd 1.84
3rd 1.41
4th 1.00
5th .82
6th .63

We went with the most capable / highest rated towing package from each manufacturer, which determined the axle ratios.
