I like to put pandit straps on co workers driveshafts.
when I was into Ham radio and put connectors up on a tower not too accessible we used good 3m 33 electrical tape and it was there 10 years later still thing if is better then lots of the wire ties around. bought american made one for my offroad buggy and still have problems with them, poor quality, there are many ratings on the force the wire tie can take so there is a big choice available. BUT then tape is messy when you remove it.
All zip ties will fail if outside on in a well lighted area.
Just a matter of time.
The one exception is the steel varity
Zip ties are great for they were designed for, holding cables [cable-ties] inside an electronics cabinet.
I have used a large quantity since they cam out in 1964!
Essentially every non-metal one I have ever installed has failed eventually.
They have NO place on outdoor equipment.
I just used some to hold up light wiring under the equipment trailer with full knowledge that they are doomed from the git-go!
Just a matter of time.

To be honest, I couldn't tell ya'll what color the ones on either on my tractors are. Or if they've been trimmed right or not.
I just meant to say that I reserve white ties for non-UV exposed applications, and use UV-rated black ones where sun exposure is expected.

Having worked with some Jewish MD's, I happen to know that what may have meant was a Bris.

I'm neither, but it ws a pretty good joke otherwise.

Black does not necessarily mean it is UV resistant. Depends on the fill used with the thermoplastic.

When my 2007 Honda Fit tried to drop its (supposedly Stainless Steel) tailpipe after only a few years (in 2010) I found Stainless Steel cable ties at Auto Zone that are still working to hold it on despite another 3 years and about 50K miles.

just a note in using ties, be careful with metal pipes as they will wear thru and fracture the wall could be DANGEROUS for Fuel, Hydraulic and Brake lines. For what its worth...

Tie wraps are used frequently throughout the aviation industry. They do give nasty cuts when not trimmed right.

When used correctly they can work well. I work on Bombardier aviation products and they use them frequently . I also use them and I don't consider myself lazy. I also use lacing cord and other methods when applicable

However, I think Mr. Seller may have been trying to imply that there would be some controversy over what method constitues the proper way to keep your owner's manual together. I vote for rebinding them with strapping tape to reinforce the edge and center crease/hinge, with clear magic transparent tape as the only closely acceptable second rank material.
