Kubota HST Side-by-Side Pedal Modification

Hi.I appreciate all the effort you are putting into this.Yes,I do have the skinny pedal and NOT the one similar to the Grand series. The problem I have is lifting my right leg as well as lifting my foot.I can no longer put my foot under the pedal and lever it up to activate reverse.I have tried resting my foot on top of the pedal and tried rocking it back and forth. This is probably the easiest method for me but not ideal since I am 6 foot tall and my right leg ends up being in an uncomfortably high position.Maybe if the seat was 2 to 4 inches higher?

Raising the seat might help, but I wonder how everything else (steering wheel and loader control?) would work out with that idea. Maybe make up the add on lever and see if that works for you. You might find that letting go of the loader control could work for you by positioning the loader lift up and rolled back a bit, then move in reverse.. Maybe not ideal, but you might could live with the compromise. You might just have to try different things and see what works.

I do believe you are right in that there will be some compromise.I just have to figure out what works best.

I did come up with a dual pedal design that would work on my B7500. I'm not sure what the arrangement under the B3030 deck looks like so this might not apply for your tractor.
The problem is that all of the linkage would have to be to the left side of the left pedal right next to the transmission case. That would require the right pedal linkage to go through the left pedal. It could probably be a long piece of 1/4" round stock with the link lever on the end. It would be a real PITA to install it because all of the brake linkage is in the way under the deck. :2cents:

Thanks Sy for taking the time to post that drawing.Yes,space under RH the floorboard is limited.I think I will try the simplest method first which is a hand control rod attached directly to the treadle. If that does not work, then I may just start looking at tractors that are better suited to my needs.

You might want to consider running a connecting rod to the left side for the hand controls, when I use our M8540 hydraulic shuttle shift, I use my left hand for the reverser and right hand for loader controls, no other way to do it and no problems.

Tiredguy, do you have a cruise control lever? You can use that to set your forward speed and then remove your right foot from the hydro pedal to use for split brake steering to "crab" a little and get back on course.

kOua,
thanks for bringing using the cruise control up as I've done that before gutting out of a stuck situation which was great when there was no snow or ice. Ice is the problem and using the cruise would be far to dangerous just like it is in a car on a highway with black ice. Not just the lay of the land but of course there's always obstacles just where you don't want them. When it happens you have to be able to react quickly actually riding the brake pedal would be best then a quick stab on either pedal would correct somewhat just enough to turn it or stop it from turning.

I had an Allis 720 compact tractor in the past which had the lift and bucket levers on the left side and the hand operated hydrostat on the right. Never could find that third hand to do the steering. Usually had to use my leg against the steering wheel to "hold course" when using the loader and hydrostat. Not good especially without power steering.

I've ridden Harleys with right foot shift, my Bultaco and Triumphs also had right foot shift. I traded my Honda for a Bultaco and blew through the first stop sign I hit by down shifting instead of hitting the brake.

I believe they were mandated all left foot shift in 1975. In order to get a "new" 75 Triumph, I had to buy one out of Canada as a used bike because it had a right foot shift; sure wish I still had it.

Oh wow, I have never ridden one, but I saw plenty of them, and thought, no I will stick with my rice burners. I could get all crossed up and blow thru a stop sign!
