Cabelas was actually done on a computer. They had 10-12 of them against a wall for all the gun buyers.

That was about 18 months ago so maybe I am exaggerating. But it was a long time from salesman to cash register.

It seems like going thru the whole process makes you feel like you are doing something wrong.

.

now that i don't doubt.

gander mountaion is like that. they tripple check.

the salesperson checks. they have another sales person double check..and before they release the gun they get a manager sign off to release.

Dodge man, you really need to try an accustrut for that pencil barrel:
The Original Barrel Strut for Mini-14s

/pine, the Ruger has a chamber that will fire both .223 & 5.56 safely and Ruger has put this in writing.

sld the best part about the wallyworld experience is being escorted out after your fieram purchase.....just in case you decided to go postal with an empty weapon, the manager would wrestle you to the floor and put you in a sleeper hold:laughing:

Oh yeah, I been thru that before. They won't even let you carry the gun out of the store.

The Mini-14 uses Ruger's scope mount system; the system uses a set of 1/4 moon shape recesses in the receiver; the scope rings attach there. It is a nice system; when I had my Mini-14 25 years ago, I could easily remove and reinstall the scope, with little to no change in zero. It is a nice system. The rifle comes with a set of scope rings.

You can see the little crescent shape for the mounts in the picture here; click on "integral Scope Mounts"
Ruger® Mini-14® Ranch Rifle Autoloading Rifle Features

Serial number starts with 582 which I believe implies that it has a drilled and tapped receiver already for a scope.

Can you use the iron sights underneath the installed scope?

Not with the factory rings. A web search shows there are aftermarket versions though. There also appears to be a see thru Picatinny rail that uses the Mini-14 mounts.

I just got home from wally world with a new Ruger Mini-14 Ranch rifle! It's always a good day when you get a new gun.

Thanks to all for the feedback and experience.

Now a trip to Cabelas for some ammo.......
