It's Cold !

   / It's Cold ! #231
Tomorrow is supposed to be a heatwave of 54, but starting Monday its 29/7, Tuesday 20/0, Wednesday 30/21, and then finally above freezing on Thursday with 42/35.
If things go the way they do sometimes in West Tennessee, it'll be cold till the end of March and then:
a week of 50's
a week of 60's
a week of 70's
a week of 80's
May will start out at 95 and then stay that way or higher until the middle of September.

Best I can tell this winter, we have had at least three-four weeks of very cold weather that is really below average. A few weeks ago we hit 6 and 9 as a low temperature. The lowest temperature we have ever had in 10 years was 9 and we only hit that one time. Even the high temperatures are much lower than normal. We had a bit of ice in the water supply on the second day of single digit lows. We have have had lows in the teens for almost a week and it looks like next week will just as cold.

We heat with wood and normally I load the stove every four hours, but last night and early this morning, I was adding wood every three hours to try to keep the house warmer. We woke up to 70 in the house when normally it would be 75ish. In the past, we would only have a few days of this cold weather, but this year, the cold has lasted for weeks. Good thing we have lots of wood ready to burn but we really need two stoves to warm the house as we would like.

I wish the Canadian TBners would keep this cold weather up Nawth with them!:laughing::laughing::laughing:

Later,
Dan

Yesterday, I was having a chat with a waitress in a diner I get to once in a while.

Her brother was visiting here recently; he works in the oilpatch out West. He's used to -50C in northern Alberta, so he was just wearing a sweater outdoors here.

If I'm used to 0C, then 25C seems warm. Same logic if you are used to -50.

All comes down to what you get used to. :confused2:
