IMG_0850.jpgNothing is to heavy, i cut grass with this 6000lb. Allis 170. An it does a find job. So don't tell me to heavy.
If digging is priority one, representing the Lion's share of the work, I'd go bigger still: CK27 or larger. But these are terrible mowers: too heavy. Tough to find one that does both very well. Maybe the Mahindra Max28XL??

I am leading towards The Mahindra Max28xl. For another $4000.00 to 5000.00 seems like more solid tractor1 Thoughts?

You really need to but fanny in seat. I was attracted to the Mahindra (hay I spelled it right, but I cheated) it looked much more heavy then the others in its "class".....whatever that is.

Much more heavy front end, seemed a little more porky.....but in running the machine it just seemed rough around the edges. Like it was a generation behind Kubota, JD and such...perhaps it is, I view them as a real up and comer.....a little like Kia in the car world....they have come a real long way in a short time, but when you are in the car....man they are nice, but there is just something not quite up to spec that you just can't put your finger on. Only way I can describe it.....that and some friends experience with them made me shy away.

I highly doubt the bread and butter of a Mahindra would leave you wanting, but little things that have busted on friends machine would just tick me off. The machine that almost had me is the Massey GC tractor. I really liked it....but again it felt just a tad rough around the edges. Best seemed to be JD and Kubota....but you do pay for those, JD lost because of the plastic....sorry a tractor should not be plastic.....that made it feel disposable.

Keep up the search look at everything you can find and let us know.....like many say once you have it you will wonder how you did so long without it.

Every lawn situation is different: soil, moisture, grass, slope, terrain, turning diameters, etc. My first hand experience with a CK25 with R4s (tractor of point), weighing about 5000 lbs: It compacts my soil terribly with just a few passes I dry conditions. In wet conditions (even just a little wet) it tears the grass when turning. So, I stand by my statement. I keep my CK off the lawn unless absolutely necessary and wouldn't cut grass with it, except maybe fields that get cut once a month or less often.

I have a lawn tractor for grass so the mower is not an issue with me!

The Max is in a class of it's own... just a tad bigger than the BX and not quite in the B series.

Discussion has it the Max was built to beat the BX...

Lol, hardly. That's opinion... and one that I'd disagree with, both from personal experience and published data here on this site.

It's an opinion based on facts, dealer discussion, talking to customers and observations.

Kubota is by far the most popular, long lasting compact tractors going. Their quality is very high and built right. They are not perfect but closer to perfect than any other compact tractor.

4Shorts buys Kubota... That's should tell you something!

Being "most popular" doesn't speak to quality or reliability. I could list numerous obvious examples, but really don't need to.

Kubota makes a decent tractor. But nowhere near as amazing as you seem to believe.

Kubota is in the same class of companies as Stihl, Apple, Cat and Toyota. High quality, long lasting products. They embrace quality first and let that philosophy make them money. People like quality products.

Deere does a great job with their large farm equipment, forestry and construction machines.

I think you will find compact Kubota tractors have high customer satisfaction, extremely good reliability, good performance and outstanding resale value.

If a guy or gal wants to bet on the horse that will win without months of research... Bet on Kubota. The odds will be with u.

You sound like a sales brochure lol ... is Kubota paying you for this?

One of my closest friends, who has put over 400 hours on two brand new Kubota's in the last three years, and has had problems with both of them, would probably disagree with everything here except maybe the resale value.

It seems more apparent that you are buying into the propaganda and idea of the Kubota quality, more than the reality. Kubota absolutely makes a decent product. I do not believe it is the best product. Clearly your beliefs are different than mine, which is perfectly fine, I don't mind at all. But, do yourself a favor and lay off the orange Kool Aid 4 a moment, and clear your head so its can come out of the clouds!

Far as I'm concerned, if Kubota tractors were any good, TSO would have owned one by now.

So what is your opinion of the best brand of farm tractor?

I have years of experience with farm equipment. I design, improve and supervise refurbishment of machinery (mechanical engineer). So I'm fairly qualified to judge equipment.

I have no affiliation with Kubota. I do own two Kubota machines. As well as 2 other tractors.

I have multiple friends with Kubotas and other brands. Overall as of 2014 Kubota is making a good quality compact tractor line up thats better than all other brands. And that's a fact jack! (0:

I sure hope Kubota never underestimates the competition as badly as you do.
They will be in trouble if they do.

I don't necessarily think any brand is the "best". Each brand has different models that stand out, but as machines they are all susceptible to mechanical or electronic failure at some point.

I owned a Kioti that blew a seal in the steering column within the first 25 or so hours. Then it was perfect up to 200 when I sold it, except for another pinched O-ring in one of the loader connections. I owned an LS tractor (same as the NH Boomer 50) that was perfect (up to 150 hrs when I sold it) except for a headlight fuse. I've put now 135 hard & fast hours on this Massey (in 4 months) and it hasn't had any issues. Of the tractors I've owned, the Massey feels like the best overall quality. Sitting inside my Massey, directly next to my buddies Grand L Kubota, you can tell that they probably build & design them near eachother and probably source many of the same parts suppliers (Iseki & Kubota) as there are many similarities.

But, I'm not going to go around saying Massey has the best tractors under 50 HP. Actually, from what I've seen personally and read here on the forum, most every tractor brand is about as good as the rest. Any brand can have problematic units of course, but it truly seems like most tractors these days are very competitive. The exception might be TYM (no offense to TYM guys) as there seem to be a higher ratio of problem threads posted here.

You should.... Whatever you choose to drive, your tractor of choice, your frig, etc was designed by a mechanical engineer.

Sorry you are not happy with your fellow employees.

Good points. I still stand behind my original statement in the under 50 hp category. It's kinda like Glock handguns. In general a very reliable, well made brand when it comes to pistols.

Hi all, Newbie tractor owner....love my 2014/25DLB-1. OEM Mech. thumb, BXpanded under armor, Messicks seat cover, bought a ++++OEM WSM. Only error I made is... I believe, that I should have purchased the R4 tires instead of the Turfs. I'm currently planning to convert the tractor over to " R4 rims and tires". Dealer tells me it's not an expensive mod. Read every post, especially 4shorts' mods and considered the dealer network too .Here in MA/RI Kubota is excellent for support. I own and drive a Cummins Ram and really liked the common rail engine in the tractor..although..I would like to a see better filter/water drain and a fuel filler debris screen IMO only.
