How do you store you logging/tow chain?

/ How do you store you logging/tow chain? #201
Mine is stored somewhere in the pasture right now...
They do tend to blend in to the surroundings, especially if there is fresh dirt involved and older rusty chain. Yesterday I rounded up all my chains (that I could locate) and gave the hook ends a little color. Makes them easy to spot when they get away from you, orange is of course the preferred color but I had a part of a can of electric pink on hand so that got used. Plus, no-one would even think of taking them now.

You're lucky you're cross the country from me or my niece would have me stealing, err, BORROWING them chains.

;-P

She even has her own PINK rifle- a 22WMR I think as she got it for shooting coyotes.

NOT for hunting, she doesn't need to because the 'yotes and coydogs won't stay away from the family's barn- where the goats, cats and horses all live.

Although they might just be there hunting for the rodents usually found around the feed bins too.

Those 'yotes might wanna think twice about going after their cat- named "Beast" and fits the name too!

I'd think twice about trying to pick on that monster...

I do the same, but with fluorescent orange. I paint pliers, wrenches, hammers, axes, chains, snatch blocks and most other things I use in the bush. Before I used to put things near a tree or stump and at times wasted a lot of time trying to find it again. The bright colours have helped many times.

Koua, that only works for stuff you DON'T want to find... like old fencing that winds up nice and tight on the spindle inside the stumpjumper pan... a nice chain you want back hides down low and burrows into the dirt faster than an earth worm hidin from a robin.

:).....

I though about using orange paint for stuff like this, but now seeing the pink....

Wow, I like your shop/barn/garage. Any more photos or details? Looks first class.

Looks like the garage to the house, and the tractor is too clean, are you sure you didn't just hang the chain for the picture?

I have an idea to put onto my tractor bucket if I do get three bucket hooks or chain hooks on the top of the bucket, then I'm gonna wrap our 20ft tow chain around the hooks when we aren't using it, but we will still have it there when we do need it.

A little involved but priceless.

That's a lot of chain to loop around hooks on a 4' bucket. I be concerned about one end popping loose without knowing it, snagging on something and doing some damage. Keepers on the hooks would help.

there's about 30 feet in one ammo box, more will fit. If I need more than that, I'll remove the gloves.

I wrap mine on the top of my rear blade. When I am logging I use the rear blade as a little extra safety against a flying chain. I can also quickly grade down the path if I mess it up too much. Adds weight to the rear wheels as well.

Re: How do you store you logging/tow chain and tow strap?

Me and my father just dropped off our BX2370 last night to the dealer and they are putting the loader onto it today. They had the loader assembled and ready to be put onto the tractor last night, so when we dropped off the tractor we went inside and looked at the loader and they put two bucket hooks on the top of the bucket like we had asked for and that's where i'm thinking about putting our tow chain around those two chain hooks.

Very nice! I'd like to find a good place to do that on a cabbed tractor.

Do you more or less keep a box blade on your tractor? if so, think of it as a work bench and start welding brackets on.
