This is the duramax for the farm. Never let us down once. Pulled a twenty foot stock trailer down over two mountains with no trailer brakes just used the allison and all worked fine. Here's one hauling hay, ten thousand pounds no brakes on the wagon, could only go 20 mph due to wagon sway.

Love my 2012 Ram-3500, Pulls My 42ft camper great, put my yaks behind the camper and pulled it up to Colorado. (great trip) i put 23 round bails behind it. Just seems to run better the more miles I go.

That's heck of a camper. I have heard the mega cabs come close when pulling a 5th wheel

Yeah, she still starts rough but I am trying to burn some old diesel out of it. I poured a can of sea foam in both tanks and topped her of with fresh diesel. I am hoping this cleans the injectors.

Aside from the new starter I have all new battery cables.

I have a guy who use to work for international tell me there is a local place (by me) that rebuilds the injectors for a great price. Hopefully I won't need to find out.

I am not sure the future for this truck as i hope to get a dump truck with plow next year. Who knows though, I may just have this for a while.

Was doing some last minute maintenance on my IDI tonight - block heater quit working so that was due to be replaced. And the blower resister was shot, including the plug (fortunately they make a replacement pigtail assembly).

While I was under there I realized I'd forgotten that someone had welded the battery cable onto the starter rather than replace a bad cable-end. And since the coolant had to be drained for the block heater, might as well replace it with fresh antifreeze. Oh and the oil's looking pretty dark too, so might as well change it too...All together it was a $300 trip to the parts store tonight LOL.

That Olde Iron has served well.... good to see it getting a bit of TLC.

$300 is about what, half a payment on a new basic truck ? Money well spent.

Yeah, amazing how fast it adds up. Sometimes routine maintenance seems to be a fair percent of what's she's worth. But when I use her, it seems worth every penny.

Yeah, I use seafoam in everything. Everyone I mix a gallon or two of 50:1, I throw in a shot of seafoam.

I also like to throw in a shot or two everytime I fill the five gallon jugs. I never know how long they will be sitting around. Sometimes it's a few days, sometimes a few weeks.

I've never read it's bad so why not. I now buy it by the gallon and keep that in hand to refill the typical can.

I changed my fuel filter in my tractor today so I figured it was a good time to throw a shot in there as well. ( the tank, not the filter bowl).

Then last fall out of the blue he asks me if I am still using his snowblower and if he can have it back. I don't know how he managed to not hear me that I wasn't going to use it, but he had given it to me without draining the gas or anything, and it sat in my shed like that for about 3 years.

So I drained the gas tank, the fuel lnes and the fuel filter, then topped up the tank with fresh gas and a shot of seafoam. Also changed the spark plug. Took a good few pulls to get it running and it rumbled like a tank for about 5 minutes, but then it smoothened out and after 10 minutes it was purring like a cat. That seafoam had cleaned out every bit of bad gas. The next morning it started cold on the first pull, and when I dropped it at my dad place later that day it cold started on the first pull again.

So I cranked her back up just long enough to load her on the trailer to transport to my brother's mechanic shop. Hope it's not too bad. I don't think it's much. Oil was coming from near the pump. My mechanic (my brother) said there are some high pressure oil lines on the 7.3L's that tend to fail when it's cold.

I will say one thing for Dodge, their Cummins diesel has a very respectable reputation. Ford's last few diesels have been a huge joke.

have you used any other products by seafoam? I have not. As a matter of fact, I didn't even know they made anything else up until recently. If the products are as good as the original I should probably try them.

On a diesel oil will usually be black almost immediately.

It's a 12' dump bed. I really like the old truck. We don't use it much, but it sure is handy when I do need it.

No I haven't, and until you mentioned it I didn't know they made anything else either. Looks like my local crappy tire also has their transmission additive and their penetrating oil. Well there's my "something new learned" for today. :thumbsup:

I have used their penetrating oil for many years. very good stuff. :thumbsup:
