Goose neck vs bumper pull

Locally our "AG use" rules are very liberal. Very common to see 3/4T or 1T pickups pulling GN hay trailers with large bales stacked 2 wide (overwidth) with no license on the trailer and often no lights. When you come up behind one of them you can't even see what's pulling it. When they want to turn left they slow and move to the center of the road so no one can pass. Here you can actually drive an ATV or UTV down the road with no special markings or flags as long as you can prove you are AG related. I drive my Yamaha Rhino back and forth to our farm (6 miles) on State Hiways with not so much as a second glance from Law Enforcement.

And I'm not picking on the Duramax. I would have told the story regardless of the outcome. It was just the one and only time since owning my Diesel I've been involved in what I would consider a "real world" challenge. All three of us drivers enjoyed the test.

Nice buggies . You guys don't use resraints or skid lids ? That surprises me .Tell me , is that kid staring at his phone ? That just drives me nuts !

We use harness, without looking back, I think they've got em on, their just black. We don't wear helmets. Dylan was videoing just prior, Dad said put that thing away!!!

You may still be in a pickle because your truck is a dually. The rule for HOS ( hours of service logs ) is that you are exempt 'if' the truck has a GVWR of 6000 Kg or less 'and' is being used for personal uses. You are also exempt for farming purposes.... So, if for example you are moving your machine in order to cut someones field you could get fined if they determine you are doing it for some compensation. Most modern 350's are either just below or slightly above that 6000 Kg number.

The 10,000 lb trailer rule applies to everyone though, except for RV's ( perversely ) You would need a Restricted Class A to pull it.

14000# GVWR PACKAGE on my truck puts me up there for sure lol

I bought a truck so that I wouldn't have to worry about pulling my fiver now it looks like the funny hat guys can cause me troubles, go figure lol.

Me thinks with all the times I will be using an equipment float I will go the rental route. Pretty much me going the nine kms to my cousins. The local guy (40 km away) will rent one for $60 a day, only 16' but hey I wont have to pay for the sticker each year. I figure I would only be using it a couple times a year at best. Seems more then it is worth to own it.

The Government up here is stifling people buying and doing stuff and I am at the stage in my life that it isn't worth the energy to fight it.

What about just a tractor? Could you get by it hauling a mini excavator?

I will throw in my two cents worth probably all it's worth having a twenty foot GN built as we speak or type had a hitch installed in my Toyota which has 5 and a half foot bed. 3400 dollars for trailer built to my specs. seems like a good price but watching videos on youtube is there much concern about trailer hitting top of bed when going thru a dip in road and how do you compensate for this. be willing to listen or read all advice thanks.
