guess what, i called Hydraforce.... the SV08-2401-6T-N-12DS is a special build. the "01" is built with a leak rate designed to bleed down over a period of time. So it is a "high leak" code. go figure.

i will have a new cartridge here tomorrow.

No kidding! You really DID answer your own question.

As I said, customer technical service is great at HydroForce. Now, if they would only sell direct.....

Is that why my Hydraforce SV08-24-6T-N-12DS (without the 01 after the 24) doesn't leak down?? :c)

All,
I love a story with a happy ending. Yes i did answer my own question, freakin' weird. The "01" = leak, Bumperm's valve and DFK's i suspect do not have a "01" on the part number. gotta love Ebay.

Fluid Power Sales in Baldwinsville, NY had one in stock and shipped today. they are about 1.5 hours from me. UPS will have that valve here tomorrow. $27 bucks. (cartridge only)

Coincidentally, I have a SV08-2401-6T-N-12DS if anyone needs one, Cartridge only.

Bumperm,
question. Is the knob on the stick friction fit on a spline or screwed on? or..... how did you get the knob off? figure I'd ask before i started pulling and twisting the ol' knob.....

Brian,

Where the heck were you when *I* wanted to ask that question? :c)

It's a slide on, no spline, but really tight, they may have used a light adhesive (like we used to use hair spray on bicycle grips). In any case, try twisting and pulling - but if the thinner bottom part doesn't move, then it'll be safer to also push up on that with an open end wrench or similar that sort of fits the shaft. I don't think it'll tear. Oh, and if you have a compressor with blow gun handy, direct a stream of air and the bottom of the knob - - that's most always a help.

BTW, I was thinking of maybe further modifying mine, maybe use an end mill to make a half inch hole in the side of the knob and mount a 13mm push button in it. Super glue works on rubber almost as well as it does on skin. Just have to find a suitable button.

'Course the button I have does work . . . and I do have a bunch of stuff to do that should have priority over that, but you know how that goes.

You got that right. Ordered from the Hydraforce catalog. If I could have found something close on eBay,
I would have gone that route. Some eBay sellers want more than the distis do, however. Getting a
valve exactly as needed is nice.

This valve, with body, lists for something like $35-40 each. If a disti charges double shipping and sales tax,
you can pay double that.

HydraForce now forces buyers to use in-state distis, too. Maybe I will get a Sterling or Parker next time....

Dfk,
Come to a stark realization that the distributor prices for brand new valves are running cheaper than the same product (of unknown origin) on Ebay. I can't buy a new hydraforce cartridge for 27 bucks on Ebay! shipping was 10 bucks. i had $55 bucks into a valve that didnt work.
