The air bag didn't deploy (low speed collission into a giant rock hiding in a snowbank). I was pulling a loaded trailer so there was still a lot of force involved. Not sure if I would have been better off if it deployed, I put a knee a few inches into the dash. I think I hit my fingers on my brake controller, my hand was on the gear shift at impact and the brake controller was mounted in front of it. Broke the ring finger in 2 places and the pinky in 1. Also tweaked my wrist / hand, so the motion of grabbing and twisting, lifting or squeezing causes a lot of pain. Unfortunately the ring finger had also been broken a few monts before, so its been a bad year for that hand....
Ouch! The only time I ever broke anything was when I was 12 playing little league baseball. At practice, toward the end of the season, a guy was picking on a friend of mine and I stepped between them to make them stop because the coach would be there in a few minutes and he would make us all run lots of laps. I hated running laps. Anyway, when I stepped between them the guy tried to hit my friend but swung at me instead. I reacted without thinking and hit him...in the side of the head because he turned as I swung. Shattered my little finger in the side of my hand. Broke a bunch of times up into the side. Hurt like a *#^*. I went home and my sister (nurse) took me to the Dr. for a cast and I still remember her asking me, "Does being stupid still hurt?". Did I mention it was at the end of the season and I had made All-stars and then could not go. They went pretty far into the playoffs way down in Florida. Almost made it to the world series final.
