.... now the smoke has cleared (i was thinking)

obviously I was not thinking about gas mileage... or lack of gas mileage!

a question... does unit really need an extended cab? or anything after it for extra cab space?

flat bed, double rear axles, i would think having a longer bed, would prove more useful in hauling stuff.... even just a single rear axle... getting some longer lumber 10 to 16 footers, to hauling ladders... double rear axle for hauling say a SCUT or like tractor with a FEL and something on 3pt hitch. you might be able to fit up on it.

with diagrams it almost looks like you are trying to build a little "sleep away bed" behind the front seats. kinda like some semi / 18 wheel trucks have. or is that the goal? hook up to a boat, or load some utv / atv / bikes in bed. and go off some place. and have a little bed to sleep in, for pulling over in a rest area or like as ya travel?

I was thinking that a sleeper would go nice right behind the seats on the van cab. Will the cabover part be able to come off without damaging the roof? Also, I'd keep the genset for power, it's probably an Onan Emerald 4000 watt, good to have onboard for whatever might come up.

van clip only stays until I get pickup body
and that did sound like a good idea... until I saw it..
it just looks a little too goofy for me..

I decyphered this part of the rpo sticker from here..

hopefully this will help someone else with decoding this stuff.

and w/b is wheelbase. 146" is not close to the 166 that I measured. So I guess that means that four winds rv company extended the chassis.... or just moved the axle back 20" ish

Chevy made a 146" wheelbase van that year. You may not have a conversion lengthened frame at all.

now that I got all the goofy ideas out of my head and
now that I have kind of snapped back to reality

I got excited when I saw a realistic picture of what I could do.
