Kubota B2650 and B3350 info and hints

I've got 278 hours on my B3350 now, still no problems, but decided to get the computer emissions updates and the plastic HST plug (recall thing) replaced with a metal one before winter sets in. When I went to pick it up, dealer said they did three computer updates, replaced plug, added a deflector shield thing on the air intake, and no other parts or sensors needed replacing . . . okay.

Got it home and found a plug on the front of the computer, under the seat, is unplugged, male and female part lying there. I'll call and ask about that tomorrow. Also, can't find any intake shield or deflector part has been added, least not that I can see. I think maybe they forgot and left that off. Anyone have a picture or would describe that part please? I'm assuming that's a part to keep the intake filter from loading up with snow/ice while using the front blower.

Hope getting it reprogrammed doesn't introduce bugs. It was doing it's auto-regen thing about every 16 hours or a bit longer in the warm weather.

I have a new 2650, also with the 2782 front mount blower and hydraulic chute rotation and hydraulic chute up/down. Both chute controls are operated with the left-right joystick movement. A separate electric switch attached to my joystick will change the hydraulics from chute up/down to chute rotation. Regardless of the position of the switch, the joystick up/down only controls the up/down movement of the quick-attach subframe, and hence raises or lowers the entire snowblower mechanism. The float position of the joystick remains available and works as designed. Both chute rotation and chute up/down are fast, but feathering is manageable.

No snow yet, but I am looking forward to it.

Hi guys! Old thread, but time appropriate. I just took delivery of my front mount snowblower (model 2782) with hydro chute rotation and hydro deflector kits for my B2650. I was shown how the blower was mounted, but we didn't actually do so. I noticed that there is an electrical wire going to the "hydraulic control block" on the blower. I assume this is the control wire going from the electric switch to the "control block" that selects which hydraulic circuit is being operated with the joystick? When I noticed it after the delivery guy left, I first thought, "WTF - I got an electric chute rotation motor instead of a hydraulic controller that I paid for!" Can you guys verify? If you got a pic, that would be great - or if you need me to take a pic to verify what I got, I can do that as well.

I also ordered the drift cutter kit (which is supposed to extend the overall width another 6" total). They forgot about ordering and installing them before delivery, and will ship to me for me to figure out - hopefully there's a template or installation diagram. Anyone have this kit and can post pics of how they are installed? Do they add any benefit, or only a novelty feature?

Hmmm.... Although I have the B2650, this will by my first year with the tractor and will be blowing snow. I wonder if the 2650 and 3350 have the same type air intake? I'm not near the tractor now, but my intake is right above the top of the radiator, right hand side. It's a long flat oval shape. I haven't looked close enough yet to see if there is any way to rotate it into a position behind the radiator. What's the chances this intake deflector shield you are getting is universal between the two models?

Talked to the dealer this AM. What he had mentioned as being a shield or deflector is actually an aluminum L bracket that supports the right upper side of radiator - there is one there now, but since I can't remember the old one, don't know what has changed. In any case, this has nothing to do with air intake deflectors etc. I know from other posts that some have had issues with snow and ice build up on intake filter. And at least on person has moved intake from top of radiator to behind radiator?

I haven't tried moving mine down behind radiator either, so can't give advice on that.

ABCUSTER....yes that electrical connector directs the hydraulic flow to either the rotator or deflector determined by the position of the switch on your control lever..I have the same on my B2650 cab model with the same blower..

I also would be interested in any info on the deflector on the intake...My air filter froze up solid last winter from snow getting sucked into the filter..Had nearly a 1/4 inch of ice surrounding the entire filter..Didn't realize it until the tractor started to lose power and belch black smoke. I now carry a spare filter but eliminating the snow intrusion is a better fix.

Thanks for the setup confirmation Kanook. When I get some time to look closer at the "snorkel tube" air intake, I hope to rotate mine behind the radiator. I also remember reading about someone moving their intake.... Just don't remember if it was a 2650 or 3350. Wouldn't have a clue if the setup is the same or not between them.....

Anyone have the drift cutters/extenders??

I think that removing the intake tube from the air filter housing should do the job nicely . . . one hose clamp. Just remember to put it back in for warmer weather. When removing the snorkel, the foam seal on the underside of the hood will probably not rebound to fill the little gap at the right top of the radiator, but that won't make a lick of difference.

On the air intake, I bought another plastic snorkel and cut it off such that I can rotate it behind the rad. Also, the drift breaker is not hard to install if you take your time and spend a bit of time dry fitting the parts before you start drilling into the blower. I used the side pieces as a template and marked the holes to be drilled using a magic marker. Seems very sturdy and should allow enough width for me to use my B2781A blower with my 3350. With the additional width I almost cover the width of the rear tires. I had the blower on my 2620 for a few years and couldn't justify spending the extra bucks for a new blower so the drift breakers at $114 saved me a bunch of $$. Haven't had to use them yet but the weather guy said there was some snow yesterday up in the mountains......ugh!!!

Sandy, could you post some pics of your air intake and drift cutters? That would be awesome! I assume they start to flare out at the front edge of the side walls? Are the drift cutters customized to different blower models, or generic shape/size to attach to any blower housing? I'm springing for the drift cutters because I also put spacers on the rear wheels.
