Movin South... Silly yankee questions...

What I find interesting about this thread is how much in common folks have now relative to the old days. I remember growing up, folks from the south came to Detroit to work, I could tell where they were from, the people from eastern Kentucky sounded much different than the folks from Arkansas. I think people moving around the country, and the effect of tv and modern communications have homogenized the country. In SE Michigan, most folks have relatives from the south. In Florida, it's hard to find a 2nd or 3rd generation native.

I will say that NYC folks seem pretty abrupt. And the folks from Maine seem like they were born arguing.

300UGUY, my son is moving from Mississippi to your area at the end of this month. He's going to work at the GM Proving grounds. Looking for rental property in your area if you know of any!

Sorry, I just rented out a house, about 20 minutes away, in Howell. The Brighton area is very popular with GM folks. They have major operations in Detroit, Lansing, Flint, Warren, and Milford. Milford, last I knew, was part of the Warren engineering operations, but there are a lot of divisions out there, in one way or another. Supposed to be the best place in GM to work. Your boy must be at the top of the class kind of guy.

Having grown up in PA, spent alot of time in NY state as well as NYC, spent alot of t ime in Canada, lived in NJ for 20 years, lived in Germany compliments of US, and spent a good deal of time in many other places, I find that being cordial and friendly go a long way.

Having been in KY for seven plus years, I will tell you that I have been literally shocked by some comments coming from some people that are either ministers or church elders. These were comments directed at other "southerners" and not outsiders.

No matter where you are "from" or where you are "going", treating others as you would like to be treated work for me. Though, either way there are always going to be those that just do not get it.

If you hear of anything, let me know! He's starting out as an Engine Verification Engineer at Milford, they offered him a job a full year ahead of graduation! His work on the ECO car team payed dividends big time. He's lived in Michigan twice while doing a couple of internships. Once in Ann Arbor and once in Livonia I think. He would prefer in the country a bit. We visited last summer....My what some beautiful farms! But your "skeeters" make ours look pitiful! Surprised you don't have a hunting season on those big suckers!

We call um pee-cans. To complicate things, I believe the Cajun cook Justin Wilson called them Pee-cos.

I heard they were headed this way. When they get here I'll seriously consider a cab on the tractor.
No need for a cab on their account. All the "Killer Bee's" that he is referring to are retired, heck one is even in the Hall of Fame. I'm sure they still cause some retired pitches nightmares.
