Buying Advice Kubota B-series or New Holland Boomer?

Just my opinion, but after having a driver over deck on my JD and a non-drive over on my previous Kubota, not having a drive over would be a deal breaker for me. It's a true PITA to get that heavy deck (my 60" was 250 lbs) out from under the tractor. Unless, of course, the system is much better on the B3350 that it was on my BX2200.

You can lift the front end with the loader to get better clearance. Do some of these mowers have anti-scalping wheels that turn sideways?

You could check out Kubota B series that offer drive over decks. Not sure which ones have them. I know B2620 and 2920 have them.

You may also want to consider a model that doesn't need regen. I don't know much about regen but I have heard some complaints.

There certainly are issues with the Tier 4 implementation! It's not just Kubota...I read one article where a guy bought a $60K+ JD and it had major Tier 4 issues.
Here's a guy with a 3350 having issues...http://www.tractorbynet.com/forums/kubota-owning-operating/331669-kubota-b3350-tractor-regeneration-problems.html

Here's an interesting article regarding Tier 4 engines and how Mahindra redesigned theirs to avoid SCRs and DPFs.

Good point about lifting the front with the loader, I didn't have a loader on my BX. The anti-scalp wheels did turn sideways, but the clearance between the tires was so small that you had to wiggle it back and forth to get it through. I would imagine a B with a 72" deck would be similar, though a 60" would likely slide right under the B.

I second the LS tractor over New Holland. Give Weavers a call, they are pretty close.
I believe the NH WorkMaster series (same as the LS XG series) would compare a bit more closely to the B3350. The LS XR series (the Boomer series), like already mentioned, is a bit bigger and more of a "full featured" machine.

I agree with another poster here... If you are considering the NH, see if you have an LS dealer nearby. You will get the same tractor for 25% less money.

The 3350 has had issues with it's Tier 4 system, but supposedly they are ironed out now. However, you may want to a consider a 2650 (same tractor, less HP) to avoid the issue all together.

$29-30K NH Boomer 37 or 41 with front loader and 66" or 72" mid mount deck respectively - heavier machines, drive over deck, rear remote, removable FEL arms.

For comparison, a Boomer 41 is an LS XR4040H, and they can be had with FEL, and all the options (dual remotes, rear work light, SSQS for the bucket, trailer plug, extending lift arms and sway bars, etc, included for under $24K.

I had an LS R4047H that was absolutely reliable, started easily, and had plenty of power....great machine. I only sold it to buy a full-size backhoe...needed something significantly larger.

That LS does not have the expensive MMM on it, though. But yeah, it would still be a few grand cheaper.

Man, I hate that rebranding thing. Really confuses all but the most educated buyer. :(

Don't take this wrong, certainly not trying to start a war, but that's why I like Kubota. Doesn't matter what size I buy, it's always Kubota.... :confused2:
