The hydraulic depth adjustment is starting to take shape in my mind's eye ...

Basic idea would to make the back blade (or carrier/moldboard) the pivot point, then tie it to the front blade carrier at each end with some flat stock. I will have some 2 1/2" x 3/8" flat stock leftover/available that could be used for the arms to tie the blade carriers together ... but 1/2" would probably be better. Could use a couple pieces on each side to give it some additional strength. And even use a piece or two in the middle, connecting near the bottom rear of the front blade carrier/mouldboard, and running diagonally up to the top of the rear blade carrier/mouldboard.

I have some 1 1/2 or 2" cold roll solid round and corresponding D.O.M. heavy wall tube/pipe that I could use for the pivots.

Use a 6" or 8" cylinder on the front blade carrier, with a mounting point either at - or beyond (in front of) - the blade carrier and that would make it a Class 2 lever. Mebbe add a DPOC to the cylinder to lock it in position ?

Set it up so that it has mebbe 1" maximum depth, and that would leave the rest of the travel available so that the front blade could be raised up when hauling a box full of dirt.

Thoughts ?

Motor graders handle material differently than a lpgs does. With a lpgs you are flowing the material over the blade while a motor grader or rear blade is holding or moving the material to the sides.

Makes perfect sence, my "inspiration" came from copying from Grading Blades for Tractors and Skid Loaders, Roadrunner Construction Equipment
Designed to move material from the edge towards the other side, much like a road grader. I have one of these also, and it is a beast.

It's your party brother, decorate however you like:D
I like your idea about pivoting from the rear.

Yup ... it's 2" ... :D

Looks like 6" of the solid and about 8" of pipe/tube:

Could probably do a little carvin' on one of those 4' drops I'm going to have and use it for arms instead of the 3/8" x 2 1/2" ... ;)

Remodeled the blade carriers/cutting edge mounts to reflect the new angle iron (6" x 3 1/2" x 1/2") and modeled the connecting arms and pivot mechanism.

Wireframe image shows correct placement/distance of the 3PH frame on the LPGS to the 3PH on the tractor, circle indicates size/location of rear tire to 3PH.

Blade carrier is probably pretty close to where it ought to be, as far as tire clearance goes. Side rails could be moved forward some probably, to shift more of the weight forward:

Some hidden-line renders of the blade carrier raised and lowered. Shows a possible range of motion, although what that ultimately ends up being will depend on what I can come up with in the way of cylinders, mounting points, etc. and how it can be shoehorned in there:

I also know that there is a limit to what our little tractor will pull (30 hp gross, 22 hp PTO, around 1700 lbs for the basic tractor without FEL) ... I have a 5' Wood box blade that when full can slow it to a crawl.
rswyan.
I have the LandPride GS1560 pulled with my JD that has 32 HP and 27 @ PTO. Don't have much trouble pulling it but you do have to have it in 4x4 or I will get wheel slip.
The cutting blades can be turned over and are not huts in price. For the 60" unit they are about $75.00 not sure what the ones are for their 72" model but could not be much more. It does a great job on our 1/2 mile long gravel lane as long as there is gravel to cut.
The newer LandPride GS are now built to hook up to a QC where mine was not with out a top link. My 60" cost about $1,300 new 8 years ago.

You can go here and look at the manuals for more ideas.

Thanks ! I'll check it out.

Understandable about the wheel slip ... get that a lot with our 'bota as well with various things.

Anyone have any thoughts on blade spacing ?

It's currently set @ 24", leading edge to leading edge.
