New L2501 seems really loud! Suggestions?

My L2501DT is not quite as loud as the video. I would ask the dealer if he could stop by your house/place one day when he is nearby and take a listen just to be sure. This is my first diesel and it is louder than my old Ford 8N that has a newer muffler on it. I use the full cover type of headphones (like the one's for shooting guns) that has a built in radio and just turn it on when riding the diesel. The first time I used my 5' finishing mower, good Lord...I thought I was completely deaf when I finished. Never again without hearing protecting. Three blades whirring close behind is a lot more noise than the diesel.

Yes those old 8N run like a sewing machine. I have a Ford Golden Jubilee. Sounds like a car engine when idled. Real smooth!

I have a L3901DT and I find that around the PTO speed there is a drone sound. If I run the engine at that speed I find that I can still hear the drone when I go inside. I can't remember if it is just below or just above the PTO speed. I wear ear plugs all the time when using the tractor.

Maybe Kubota is cutting back on noise dampening.

If by cutting back you mean "none", then yes. The standard L models don't have any of this.

Hearing damage is cumulative.

I suggest ear muffs or ear plugs. I wear one or the other when operating my tractor .

Ok so some particulars. This was inside my garage with the garage door in front of it open. The other 2 doors were shut. Its crappy out. Occasionally raining sideways.

@ startup and lowest RPM it measured: 71dB avg

@1500rpm 80dB avg

@2000rpm and PTO speed 88dB avg

Those dB ratings were taking via iPhone so take them for what theyre worth. Comparative to themselves.

The ambient dB with the rain/door open was 54dB avg

Excellent video sir! I really appreciate you doing this. Your certainly sounds quieter than mine. And the dB measurements support that.

Correct.
Hours are visible on the dash. Engine was still not up to full operating temp but had been running a few mins prior to vid.


If its louder than that....have you checked all your fluid levels?

Mine also has a full tank of winterized offroad diesel with Amsoil injector cleaner/conditioner

A L3301 is going to have the tier 4 emissions DPF on it that will act as a bit of a muffler that a L2501 won't have.
