Anyone have a 17 super duty?

Funny I here the other way around on the newer Cummins, that they are gutless down low off the line and then power up. I know for a fact Dodge, and I bet the other makers use torque management. The engine will often pull some of its power off the line and during shifts to help protect the drivetrain. Its my understanding a tuner can help mitigate this affect but probably at the price of the driveline life. I've turned the torque management off on my Dodge Challenger and it will easily get a second gear scratch when it shifts.

Whats unique about Cummins and Dodge is Cummins makes a lot of diesel engines for other applications where the Ford and Chevy names don't. I'm not sure if thats a good thing or not but I don't think Cummins would go out of buisness if Dodge dropped them, but they won't.

I haven't really talked to many new Ford owners, I know a lot of them have switched to the gasser version.

Ford will gladly build you one. Dealers buy what sells best for them aka loaded with all options.

As I mentioned, the options were on paper but you could not order or buy a finished truck until recently. That was from the inception of the new body.

I don't think they even started producing the regular cab trucks until June of 2015.

Bdog, how is the new pickup treating you, and how many miles were on your trade in GMC?

I am really liking it. I hit 2,000 miles yesterday. My GMC had 23k miles on it.

The Ford definitely tows better. Partially due to the more powerful engine and I bet a lot due to the deeper gears.

How are you liking yours?

Looks sharp!

I have 6,000 miles now. I still like it.

The dash always defaults to the tow screen when I start it up. I like to look at the digital speedometer or fuel economy screen. I set it the way I like it and when I turn off the truck and turn it back on it defaults to the tow screen and I have to change it. Not the end of the world but it is kind of a pain having to toggle through the display settings every time you start the truck.

The owners manual say the truck takes 15 quarts of oil. It is a misprint. 13 quarts makes it full on the dipstick just like on the 11-16's. I put 15 quarts in on my first oil change and had to drain 2 quarts back out because it was over full.

That's good info. On the tow screen are you still accumulating miles on the trailer? I think I read you had to go and delete the trailer or unselect it so it won't default there anymore

Might talk to your service department concerning the screen display. I'd find it hard to believe that you can't preset the initial startup screen choice??

The tow screen will pop up if a trailer is attached by default, is my understanding.

The trailer / towing miles keep adding up. I can't figure out how to delete/unselect it. I do tow a lot but it shows the towing screen every time I start the truck towing or not.

This thread has really dropped my jaw lmfao, I paid less for my house than two of those trucks are worth lol

Man what a sharp truck! Looks awesome.

I'm kinda old school, can I get one with factory manual Windows/locks and tranny, rubber floors and vinyl non powered seats? Plasticky headliner ext heck my current truck doesn't even have factory radio lol

All I can say is you guys are spoiled but in a good way, I like all the options but don't like them enough to pay for them.

I'll try to look it up in the manual. When you delete the trailer, it'll stop defaulting there. The 11-16s would reset when you restarted.

I saw this on page 117 of the owners manual:
Note: Once you select a trailer, it remains active until you set it as no longer active. An active
trailer still accumulates miles even after you physically disconnect it from your vehicle.

As someone mentioned earlier, "if no one bought new trucls there wouldn't be any used trucks on the market".
You should be thanking these guys. One of these shiny trucks might be your used truck purchase someday. :)

Most deff, I have been looking at F250's and F350's lately so yes I appreciate them buying the new trucks so I have more trucks to buy in the used market. I'm a Ford guy and would salivate over one of these 2017 F450s but like one guy said the tow capacity of these trucks are going way up, the older F250s and F350s I'm looking at (1980s and 90’s) pull as much or a little less than a new F150s.

Before too long you will see semis replaced with F650s lol, bit of a stretch but I saw a fully loaded smaller 5th wheel car hauler running down the road yesterday with 7 SUVs on it being pulled by a 3500 dodge, looked like a lot for a 3500.

Thanks guys for buying new trucks! Maybe some day I will be in your shoes, all I ask is take good care of them so there not so beat up for the second handers lol

Those new Dodge 3500 with the right options can tow around 31,000-32,000 lbs. so if the cars weigh around 3,500 lbs 7 of them is 24,500 lbs plus weight of trailer estimate around 10,000 lbs. It is 34,500 lbs of that there will be at least 3,450 lbs on fifth wheel and 30,000 on trailer. So it is legal. The new fords can also tow that trailer too.
