Kubota Top-N-Tilt concerns

   / Kubota Top-N-Tilt concerns #31
I want to echo the appreciation for Brian. I've never bought anything from him, but he's been kind enough to answer several questions for me, and I have learned a lot from his posts here.

Also, a big thanks to LD1, without whom I'd still be saving money for remotes and cylinders. His write up saved me tons of money and made possible a project that I never would have been able to tackle on my own. Having the TNT kit on my Kubota has made my life a LOT easier in the veggie garden this year!!

Only thing I want now is hydraulic offset to replace the turnbuckles. Anyone ever do something like that?

Several guys in Australia wanted me to do those awhile back, I declined. To busy as it is-was.

I couldnt find anyone that made then in the size I wanted.

So I just built my own.

Either you didn't ask me or I recommended 2 1/2" cylinders and you wanted 3" and didn't tell me that you wanted 3". I would have made a 3" set no problem for your tractor. The 6" & 12" strokes are what I typically use for all MX Kubotas.

What I will not do is build a 3" set for a tractor that really only needs a 2" set. 2 1/2" yes, but not 3".

I'm glad to hear that it's possible. I was thinking it might be a winter project this year, but my shop building plans have been put off for a year (hopefully only a year). I'll do a thread if I get around to it. It'd sure be nice to be able to shift a cultivator or deep digger on the fly. We farm on a slope and around a curve, so tilting implements from the seat has been a huge improvement, but tracking is still an issue when I get to the curve. Plus, how cool would be be to be able to raise and lower, tilt forward and back, tilt side to side, and shift left and right hydraulically?!

I echo everyone's comments thus far. Yea, Brians opinion is greatly valued here on this forum And I enjoy what he has to say. For anyone unable to do their own TNT.....he is the "go to man"

No offense intended, but I never consulted with you on cylinder sizing. I knew what I wanted and had the ability to do my own so that was that. Made it happen and I like what I got. IF I was unable to weld of fabricate my own, you would have been my first call. But its a rare occasion I hire anything done because I can do about everything myself. You have a stellar reputation here on TBN and for good reason.

This can be a problem in itself. I am the same way. Have been my entire life. It is a rare time that I have about anything done by others.

My response, quoting you was because you had said that [I couldn't find anyone that made them in the size I wanted./]

I see.

I guess what the intended meaning was...is that I couldn't find anyone that makes and stocks them as a normal size.

Custom builder like yourself....sure.

But if I was to have cylinders made, rather than the $150-$200 stocked ones...might as well have the fun of ding it myself.

I have no doubt that if I could produce them faster, I would sell many many more. One guy can only do so much and I will not hire help. Been there done that not going to do it again at this stage of my life. All I can say is that I currently have over 100 customers that are willing to wait 16 weeks.

Many others won't either, so they go without or get what mopardude got or similar. Doesn't make a difference to some, but it sure does to others.

As time goes by, my competition seems to be falling by the wayside. Good or bad, that is what is happening.

I believe that I am the only shop that builds to fit from 12hp cat 0 to 600hp cat 4 units. Word gets out and so do my lead times, they go hand in hand. ;)

I totally understand and agree. Your business model succeeds because of that lack of competition. As long as that remains your wait list will be long. :)

I didn't look very hard. I enjoyed building mine.

Which is why he needs to expand production.

Which is why he needs to expand production.

Friend of mine started a business building Jeep things such as reinforced tube fenders, rocker guards, winch bumpers, etc..... Had a nice sized shop in his backyard. Loved what he was doing. His business expanded. Suddenly he was swamped. He built a larger building and hired help. Production went thru the roof. He became national. All the aftermarket retailers wanted his product. After a couple years he found himself answering the phone and emails all day. Never made it into the shop to do the fab work he loved. Finally grew enough that he hired a manager. He has nothing to do with the fab work in that area anymore. Now he spends his days piddling in his old backyard shop dreaming up the next big thing.
