Perils of retirement

When building my log cabin our dishwasher was the lake.
Breakfast usually consisted of beans and eggs, a nice stick mess.
We'd put the plates in the lake and the minnows did a fantastic job of dish washing, all we needed to do was remove them early enough to let them air dry.

I think all homes should have 2 dishwashers. (AKA bachelor kitchen)
One for dirty and the other with cleaned ones ready to use.
Would save on expensive cabinets to store them!

Hahahaha I never thought of minnows! I call our beagle "Prewash" (when the Wife is not looking).

To me a dishwasher is a useless appliance that is just looking for a way to give you trouble.

Maybe we've just been lucky. Our 18 year old dishwasher has completed approximately 5,400 loads of dishes with not a single repair. The one we had before that lasted 17 years and was replaced because the coating came loose on the racks and started rust spotting dishes. No repairs on it either.

When I bought the one we have now the appliance store owner asked me what type of dishwasher I wanted? I said the best one you have even if it's the most expensive. Same with my first one. I've never had a lesser machine. Maybe that makes a large difference in such appliances??

Re: Laundry. I have black jeans, t-shirts and knickers and they all go in with gray socks. 1 load fits all.
Dishwasher. My mother used to give me h3ll for not washing the dishes before putting them in the dishwasher. Scrape the excess off ya, but wash them first? Aint gonna happen.

This from the guy that as a bachelor did a load of laundry when the dirty clothes basket was full. Never sorted. Just dumped it all in. :D

Is there another way? :D. I am always the last to know!

Since I am on septic, no garbage disposal, therefor everything gets a prewash. Grinder or not via the dishwasher. I figured, less in the tank by any means is better.

EXACTLY! Why put food scraps in your septic tank when you can compost them?

Far to much time at home and everything you do seems to irritate THE WIFE! Oh My God, there are toast crumbs in the butter! Is this actually a sin that I am blissfully unaware of? Could I be banished to the barn? Sheesh...

Can she butter it for you?

Hope you have a good heater in the barn. :)

Man, not mine. It is a Bosch, and it is one of the quietest, efficient, and effective appliances we own. It does one heck of a fine job and it does it with very little noise. I agree that some of the old dishwashers we have owned, or came with houses we have bought, were just big POS's.

I will guarantee you there are differences in dishwashers. We have had some old ones many years ago that weren't worth the powder and shot it would take..... But the Bosch we have now has been a very good one.
