One of the best materials I have used is rubber carpet pad... it is very dense.

I had never thought of that. Yep, it would absorb a great amount of sound waves.

First, I skipped a lot of replies, so this may repeat some input.
Pex: Make sure there are no low spots in the line as water can accumulate there. PVC and possibly PEX expand under pressure and PVC eventually weakens. When that happens it can burst, blowing plastic shrapnel around the area--I've had it happen. Not so likely to burst if you keep pressures about 90. Use Schedule 80 if you can get it.
I used copper, was easy to work with and if somehow it should burst, it will be like a frozen pipe, just gets a hole in it. Copper wasn't very spendy at the time. Since it is rigid, you can avoid low spots.

You really need some drops in air system, with drain valves, to occasionally expel water from system. Condensation is an issue here with our normal high humidity.

My lines are routed overhead. Vertical drops to wall mounted connectors. Each connector uses a T with a drain valve in the bottom.

This would be the ideal installation.

I got the compressor bolted down and wired in over the weekend.

I used 3/8" SS concrete anchors, with a vibration pad and hockey puck under the feet. I used 2 rubber washers on top of the feet under the SS washer and nut.

I used the hockey pucks for two reasons. 1st was height. I wanted a bit more space to plumb the drain valve. the second reason is the feet of my compressor are stamped sheet metal. I figured with constant vibration the sheet metal edge would slowly cut into the vibration pads, hockey pucks are a lot easier to come by in Canada when I need to replace them.

I'm now thinking about how to plumb the air lines and regulator.

I'm considering installing a quick connect before the regulator, to give me an un-regulated, full tank pressure, connection point.

I might use this point in the future to connect a 10ish gallon Air pig.

any thoughts?

Definitely plumb an unregulated connection.

I'm enjoying following your progress.

think, 10 gallon portable air tank. normally used to inflate tires... away from a compressor. will also add storage capacity.
