Passed a honda pilot on the interstate today with 2 mattresses on top. They were driving 30 mph....
This gets me all the time. Travelling with horse trailer and I like to keep my speed, especially as we come onto hills and I don't want to slow down at the bottom then have to power up in a lower gear. I average about 10 kph over the speed limit on the highway and the truck usually won't have to gear down unless it is a steep hill. How many times though do I get someone who wants to park behind my right shoulder and sit there while I get closer and closer to the car in front of me and I have to brake? Sometimes they are watching the horses, which I am fine with especially if they have kids. To a certain extent.
It irritates me to no end, because I tend to go at or perhaps slightly above the average speed of traffic as a whole, which means, I have to at times shift into the left [PASSING] lane to pass a slow-boat, and then I go back to the [DRIVING] lane right to let faster cars go by.
Until THAT GUY locks himself to my shoulder- usually after closely tailgating me when I drive at a deliberately faster-than-the-driving-lane-speed in the left lane to make my pass, which means that instead of being able to continue to cruise at my set speed [I love my cruise-control]- I have to brake to get him to pass or get stuck behind the next slow boat.
Found this one yesterday. View attachment 566159

Reportedly, this truck stopped and when the other truck tried to stop, the boat went flying:

I am seeing a lot of straps. Not sure about some of them. One thing is for sure. Those bottles do not have any safety caps or rings on them to protect the valves. Gees
Here are some of the thing's I've seen out and about recently.
They must have had a hard stop without trailer brakes. I wonder how his tailgate works?View attachment 566733

Not the greatest scanned picture from the 90s. I had a friends unlicensed truck and thought it would be good to deliver this frame for a pond shack some twenty miles away. It was put on a K-Car axle!
My friend went Ballistic, when he found out. I guess I was kind of out of line. Easier to beg for forgiveness than ask for permission.
I highly doubt that the crunched truck had a trailer issue. That damage is from getting run into.

I'm guessing it's a 50/50 chance that tailgate opens. Given it already doesnt match the rest of the truck its probably not the first time that happened. I'm guessing small car rather than trailer as well. At least for one of the impacts. The damage area is to wide fir a trailer tongue. I suppose the tongue could have gone all the way under & the deck or load did the damage. Would think a deck would mangle the whole bumper equally rather than mostly in the middle.I highly doubt that the crunched truck had a trailer issue. That damage is from getting run into.

I've seen similar damage on bumper mounted hitches when you try to back a trailer over a curb or log, although mine went down instead of up, just because of the hitch angle.I'm guessing it's a 50/50 chance that tailgate opens. Maybe severely tongue light and the trailer whipped violently at speed?
Only had the happen once... I did not load and was told ready to go and had to get going.
Got on the freeway and accelerated up to speed and the car trailer violently fishtailed... scariest thing ever and it was box trailer so no trailer brakes which would have helped to regain control
