Nope. Missed the blackberry patch. I just wasn’t prepared for how steep 40 is. Lost my balance and thanked allah that no cameras were around. Hey too many you see my offer to come down and abuse my 1850?

There's also the decisions that gets made, do i really need to rake and mow every square inch of my property. In my case, mother nature made some of those decisions, and i've contentiously decided to leave certain parts alone. I mow based on safety and enjoyment. Whether or not it's a fire danger to structure or escape route is a big one, i mow trails for my wife and i to walk one and to a lesser extent, what i think is pleasing to the eye.

cqaigy, I agree with your strategy. I don't mow or rake every inch of my property. We have about 300 feet of driveway I remove leaves for vehicle access and the a few yard areas I keep clear to enjoy. I let my wife rake around the barn to her liking ...

It would be just too much to try and get it all. Here's a shot of my neighbors fence just on the edge of my property with a yard stick. The maples deposit an average of 5 inches of leaves, this is after they are wet and have soaked down a bit. It is much fluffier when they are dry. I would say I pick up about an acres worth of this and leave the forested parts alone.

I use the PT rake in exactly the same situation... Pull the leaves of the fence (leaf catcher... Mulch them with the flail mower.

This is the type of fence I was talking about. The right side is 800', posts every 7'.

And yes, that is today's photo. Feel free to visit.

I hate to think how long it would be by hand.

All the best,

Peter

P.S. Yes, I live in California and miss snow. Go figure.

Hmmm. So the PT rake is more for pulling? Most of the fence line is hard to access. I was hoping to push the leaves on to tarps or near a trailer. Has anyone ever attempted to make a leaf plow for the PT? JRCO makes an aluminum leaf plow for zero turn mowers. I've only seen with these plows moving dry leaves. I think I'd need to build something out of steel if it was going to push wet leaves. Anyone ever try to make something similar?

That's a real nice looking fence Peter. I wish we could use wood rails, have to use no climb for the dogs, lots of predators out here. I might have seen the sun once... a few days ago, I think...

I used to windrow my leaves with a blower, then use my PT snow plow to push them into the woods. However, after several years, I've concluded it's just easier to pick them up with the sweeper. I just ride around VS blowing, pushing, blowing, pushing....
