Not sure the purpose of the OP. These events are common in most people's lives. I try never to let them bother me. We really don't know the other person's side and what is happening to them. As a teenager, I was working in a dinner. I guy that I was not serving started into me when I walked past him behind the counter. He wanted to go outside and fight me. I didn't let him get to me, I wasn't interested in kicking some strangers butt, and I was busy doing my job. I just moved on with what I was doing. Later I was thanked for not responding verbally or physically. The guy's Dad had just died when his parachute didn't open. I'd certainly have felt bad it I had responded to his aggression. I can't imagine the emotional pain he was in. He likely was looking for physical pain to help cope.

First, if you want to buy lottery tickets fill out a play slip. This makes it easier on the person running the machine. Whatever the person pushes on the machine, they have to pay for it.

Second, don't mock the "minimum wage" person behind any cash register unless you've been in their shoes, dealing with the public sucks.

Third, why are you boycotting a store if said person is long gone? You never know what someone is going through or been through.

I love it when people drive past our store going to another one thinking it's costing us money. It's only costing you gas to drive further and we have forgotten why you got pissed off at us in the first place. A lot of people that don't come in our store are mad at us because we wouldn't let them borrow $10 in gas and a pack of smokes until they get paid. We're a business, not a bank.

I was paying for my oil change and after the woman gave me my change I said "Thank you ma'am"

Well, that did it, she lit into me how she is NOT A MA'AM and blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. I forgot the rest as I was too stunned to remember all the yammering after her being offended.

I just looked at her and said " I understand MA'AM"
========================
That went better than the time I asked a cashier when she was due......and as the blood drained out of her face she said "I'm not pregnant" ......yep that was the last time I ever went back there. Oooops

... I've also tipped one penny and a five-star class restaurant.

... I tipped the bus person 30% CASH, and I said don't give any of this to the waiter.

The waiter actually came out to the parking lot screamed some obscenities and threw the penny ay us.

To think she still married me.

 That's some funny stuff!

Regarding asking about a fat woman's "pregnancy": Unless you actually see a head crowning or an actual baby coming out of her body NEVER assume a lady is pregnant! :D

OP stayed away from store for a year?! .....because of a new employee that the manager was coming over to talk to when he left?
....and OP is on the internet!! Yikes!! Not always a friendly place. If cashiers attitude and comments ruffled your feathers, don't venture into the "Friendly" Politics forum here. :punch:

I always thank wait staff even if in a conversation, know one woman who thinks it is her place to be rude to them, I told her that they may remember her in 10 years when they could be her Dr.

When I was in a service oriented job in the mid 70's the company I worked for required all of the employees to listen to a tape called "The Boss". They sent a tape recorder from store to store with an explanation of how the boss is the customer. Everyone who works with the public should hear that tape.

I tip according to the service I get. I've tipped $100.00 on a ham sandwich because I felt sorry for the single pregnant Mom to be at Christmas. I've also tipped one penny and a five-star class restaurant.

I was there to impress my new Mother in law and my new bride to be. The waiter took our order and we never saw him again. The bus"person" delivered our food and was all over us with service. Never a need for anything.

At the end of a VERY expensive meal, I tipped the bus person 30% CASH, and I said don't give any of this to the waiter.

The waiter actually came out to the parking lot screamed some obscenities and threw the penny ay us.

One of the best jobs I ever had was waitering at a nice place that also did banquets (guaranteed 15% on top the bill) in college.

You don't call a woman "ma'am", you call a woman "Miss". "Ma'am" may imply respect, but it also impies age. Being a waiter, you not only have to give good service (keeping glasses filled on numerous tables can be harder than you think when it comes to multi tasking), you also have to get people to like you.

...I guess I visited the store 3 or 4 times a week for years. Then one day...It has been a year and she is long gone but I have only been to the store twice in a year. I am not a delicate person...

Ssssoooooo, this happened a year ago, causing you to boycott the store you used to frequent (your right to do so), aaaannnnnnddddd you post about it on here a year later?

My question is, what ruffled your feathers recently that was cause for this out-of-the-blue post? :confused3: :popcorntub:

My biggest tips were generally always from older females who I called Miss.

Speaking for myself, to be a good waiter/waitress, you not only need to offer VERY good service, but also need to be personable at all times. It also doesn't hurt your "wage" if your average meal ticket is over $13 per plate and you serve alcohol LOL. Beats working retail during Christmas from my experience. Both jobs on my end were over 30 years ago, perhaps times have changed (but I still tip good waiters/waitresses because I know what it was like). Can't help that think that working retail during the holiday season always sucks no matter what decade you're in.

That's the Dave Barry principle! (Although someone may have said it before him.)

You can also get dinged for NOT thinking a woman is pregnant. A pregnant woman got angry at a woman I was dating, because she was surprised to learn that the woman was pregnant. She replied sarcastically, "Did you think I was just getting fatter?"

In reality, the woman was so fat already that a baby didn't cause a noticeable difference in her appearance. It probably wouldn't have helped to explain that, though.
