Flat tire fix

If patching a tire I have switched to these. They are a combination plug and patch. Since going to them I have never had one fail. They cost a little more but are worth it. The ones I use have a thin wire in the plug to make getting it through the hole easy. You then just pull on the wire until the patch is tight against the tire. Afterwards just cut off the plug and wire.

What do you use for glue?

I use a glue made by a company called Tech. Decades ago a neighbor bought a huge box of patches and glue from an auction from a auto shop that closed. They were all "Tech 2 Way". His son and I were about the same age and something always had a flat so we used them all the time. Never once did any of the patches ever fail. That included putting them on truck inner tubes for floating down a river where the patch was stretched 3 to 4 times it's normal size. I have used Black Jack products as well but just their patches and bead sealer, not their glue. His father, an old French Canadian, would apply the glue then use a match to set it on fire. He would then blow it out and repeat it a couple of times. I think he figured it was like vulcanizing. Still to this day I also do that if the temps are low.

Well the patch looks like it's giving out and the cut is getting bigger and now I have a slow leak, yup time for new tires, again, this will make the 4th set in front in 12 years vs 2 sets on rear. What is needed is a way to sew the cut back together somehow then patch it.

I know where there is a brand new set in NC or SC mounted on kubota rims........:laughing:

That can be done I have seen cob jobs that worked as well as professional repairs that work very well.
The trouble is that the professional repairs cost more then a new tire of that size.

It was first fixed at a tractor place where I bought the tractor last Oct, I dont know if they are professionals or not but now the rip is getting bigger. The Galaxcy front tires I had before these ones all the tread wore off in two years, so do I want the tread to ware off first or the sidewall to rip out first.

My rear tires are holding up good so far but I thing keeping tire chains on all year helps tires last longer, I'm thinking of putting some old V-bar pickup chains I have on my new front tires maybe they will protect my sidewalls, the Main Maine problem is TO MANY FREAKEN ROCKS...............

Yes that would be a viable option but pool man has R4 tires. I wanted to do that 10 years ago, AGs on rear R4 on front because they are stronger for FEL work but the tractor store said the tire size is all wrong, have to pick one or the other cant mix and match....................:hissyfit::hissyfit::hissyfit:

Not an expert, heard of users foam filling tires so they don't go flat. Done at dealer or tire shop.

Contact cement for tire patches always has to dry before applying patch. Using contact cement to contact cement and they suggest tacky.

I don't know what size your front tires are,
but if you go to someplace like Titan and just check out the outside diameter or the rolling radius
and find a tire the right height then start narrowing it down to rim size. Tires - Titan International
