I have known people that would pass any background check, but probably IMO should not own firearms. Peoples who's obsession with firearms and "power" didn't end until they had an M203 and Browning Belt fed MG. Kind of like the nutcase in Nova Scotia who's obsession in police cars and law enforcement didn't end til he had a fully marked RCMP car and uniform. A lot of dangerous weirdos can pass a background check.

Why do people come up with this stupid statement every time? You know the vast majority of mentally ill people are non violent and those that are are already locked up.
The vast majority of those denied because of a criminal history are also non violent.
Other then that, we have laws against the misuse of guns. If you didn't know, it is already against the law to kill someone with a gun.
How is another law going to stop anyone determined to kill you?

No proof any of those people would use a gun to commit another crime.
Even if they did, we already have a law against whatever they did.
Owning a gun or knife or car isn't what makes then do the deed.

I believe that every right comes with an equal amount of responsibility. If we don't accept that responsibility, there are people who will use it as an excuse to curb our rights. Of all of the non-LEO members here who carry for self protection; how many have been through training for that, over and above the basic CC training? And of those who have, do you maintain it? Carrying for protection requires more than being able to hit the target.
