I've got an opportunity to get a 1996 Kubota L3600 with a box grader, bush hog and finish mower for $11,500. From the pics, it looks like it sits outside but seems to be in decent condition. I'll see it in person next week, but any thoughts about the price and or things to be leery of? Just looking at the only comp on tractor house, it's 1G more, but come with the implements...
Thanks in advance!

A 24 year old tractor that sits outside wouldn’t be something I’d want unless it’s a real bargain which it doesn’t sound like.

Good, basic, mainstream tractor. Outside stored the big caution is rodents chewing the wiring. Lesser caution contaminated fluids, water small problem, algae big problem. Weathered tires, hydraulic lines and other rubber components to be expected. Tractor tires generally need replacement at 1,700 to 2,000 engine hours.

Does L3600 have a Front End Loader? Is it 2-WD or 4-WD? What transmission does it have? How many engine hours?

L4400 is enough tractor for 10 - 20 cleared acres.

Potentially a much, much better tractor than the gray market Yanmar.

GST 4wd 1300 hours with a front loader, and all of the implements previously mentioned. Algae? Where would that be, in the lines?

Algae could be anywhere there is fluid.

With only the information available, which is not that much without an inspection or a lot of photos, I consider this package a good deal at $11,500. OUTSIDE STORAGE IS A CAUTION.

With its age and outside storage tractor will likely require four new tires very soon. You can research tractor tires prices on eBay. Probably $1,500 for a set of four new tractor tires, plus installation.

4570: How do you value your Kubota L3800 without implements ?

I sold my 1998 Kubota L2900 (500 hours) with several implements for about $14k. I did a complete 500 hour service on it and I replaced all of the hydraulic hoses in prior years. It sat outside for the last 12 years but she polished up really nicely. Good tractor.

Garage kept, 250 hours, HST. About $18,000. But there’s quite a bit of difference in the 2 machines. After 24 years outside the paint is junk, the tires are junk, the hoses are junk, the seat is junk, and possible water contamination in the fluid.

So these are the pics I was given. I assumed due to the rusty bucket and rust under the seat that maybe it had been stored outside. Also, look at the back of the seat...maybe I'm nit-picking? What do you guys think?

I doubt that’s spent 24 years on the sun. It looks pretty good plus it’s got newish tires and a seat. Has it got the better glide shift transmission or the lesser grade 1-4-high/low that requires clutching every time. I could live with a glide shift but the lesser one is terrible.

I would definitely pay $11,500 for that tractor!
Tell me where it is.....I'll hook up my trailer and be on my way.

It's just ok and I'd be prepared to sink some bucks in it. It will need a new clutch pretty soon. That involves a split. Been run pretty hard and put away wet a few times but Kubota's are pretty stout. Tires are acceptable, not great but acceptable. I'd be asking about the service intervals if anything else.

To give you a benchmark, last spring I bought a used M9000 open station, hydraulic shuttle (no clutch) with a Kubota quick attach bucket plate and 2 buckets for 18 grand. That is a 85 pto tractor. I've since put about another 4 grand in it, lots of stuff because stuff wears out, it's a 2002 model. Just had the dealer run the overhead, new front crank seal and dyno and it's making 96 pto. Paint was faded worse than yours (Kubota orange likes to fade to Mary Kay pink pretty fast) so it got a complete strip to running gear and repaint too. This one has twice the meter hours the one you are looking at has but Kubota engines, even with marginal upkeep will go 6000 hours plus.

That is only a maybe!
I split my Ford 1920 at 1100 hours for a clutch, because I had it mostly apart for a complete refurbish anyway.
Clutch was in excellent condition.
No need to replace, but I did, because I already had the new one.

The other important underlying factor that people discount is, any tractor today, over 25 horsepower (I think 25) will be Tier 4 final compliant or basically loaded with emissions junk and that is a Tier 2 engine, IOW, no emissions junk at all. As they years progress, Tier 2 tractors will increase in value just because of the emissions junk and the issues.

The guy said it was GST.
No worries about a bucket as rusty as that one? Or the chips on the loader arm, cause maybe he/she knocked it against something?

Yes.
I'm at 2267 hours and haven't needed the first clutch adjustment yet.
I'm hoping/expecting several thousand + hours from my clutch.

So working with the front end loader is going to be a pain?
