At home again, the dash computer with lots or highway miles says mileage is about 25. That sure it better than over the winter months!

floor hatches repaired?

We got a complaint of these hatches in rear floor of our SuperCab. The 65lb dogs stand on the hatch opening lever and they are pushed inside. Now all the dirt falls into them and there is a hole for them to step into. I filled the lever hole with a flat piece of ABS today. The 1st one is the cover, less its lever. Poor engineering via Ford.

I do not think I woulnd call it "poor engineering", I think I would call it "Cannot cover all the bases for each and every consumer"

So ford couldn't imagine that someone would have dogs behind the seat??

On your theory, does ALL manufacturers not imagine that any car owner with leather seats or plastic door cards not imagine that dogs would not have sharp nails and scratch the heII out of afore mentioned items????

For me the "jury is still out". I like ride and the comfort and the seating position for me is excellent. As I have said on some of my earlier posts I am still not a huge fan of the 2.3 Ecoboost engine. The engine, along with the ten speed transmission, is not as good as the 3.6 and eight speed in the GM's version of the mid size pickup in my opinion. I drive pretty conservatively and I am getting about one mpg less with the ecoboost vs the 3.6 in my Canyon.

I've complained about all of the electronic controls that have replaced switches and dials but I am slowly adapting. I have started to use Ford's Adaptive Cruise Control feature more and more and I think I like it. It does eliminate braking and then resetting the cruise control when encountering slower traffic on the freeway. I like the warning system that tells me of an approaching obstruction in the front or rear of the truck. I find annoying the golf cart starting system so that is turned off each time unless I forget it.

So overall its a pretty good truck, just a little disappointing for me. Now, if Ford ever tosses in the 2.7 Ecoboost count me in. It would still have the "quirky and jerky" ten speed but I would live with that if that engine was offered.

TC, How are you doing with that noisy truck these days?? Any new Ranger owners here? If you are considering one, here is a good place to ask sowers questions.

I think these Rangers look better on the road than they do in pictures. I still do not see a lot of them out there.

We are just a small community in the UP of MI but I see them around here. I even see the same color and style of ours!

Toyota messed the tacoma up putting that 3.5 engine and tranny combo in it. It comes from the camry and minivan, that engine and tranny combo does not belong in a pickup. the old 4.0 was a very reliable and solid motor. And i wont buy a 4 cyl truck, even if it has 4 turbos. I moved up from a V6 tacoma, to a tundra trd limited to a 2019 F250 super duty 6.2, the tundra drove and rode nicer, but this ford rocks, good ride, torquey, v8 rumble, and it tows more than i need so far.

I do see Teslas around for sure but they are driven by different group of people I do not fully understand, or care to. I do expect to buy a Ranger someday to replace my daily driver.

I see 3-4 teslas around my little town, but my little town is a mix of farmers and millionaires with a few blue collars mixed in

Some of us like a smaller vehicle to drive around town with. This Ranger's turbo has towed our camper at 80+ mph and still can zoom up hills doing that job. Its size and power is a keeper for us.

Rumor has it that Ford is looking at putting the 2.7 turbo V6 in the Ranger. Keep your fingers crossed.

Yeah, it's not 1986 anymore and it's nothing short of amazing what these new turbo'd 4 bangers can do, and still get reasonable gas mileage. Far cry from the old tacomas with the 4s that couldn't get out of their own way going downhill with a tailwind. We'll see how they stand up over time, though I guess that can be said about any modern hi tech engine.

Don't see many around here either. Agree they do look better in real life than in pictures.

I neither have nor want a dog, but if I did I sure wouldn't let it crawl all over the seats in a nice new vehicle.
That having been said, it's a little sad that trucks have become luxury vehicles built for suburbanites, something you're almost afraid to get dirty.

Oaktree, We asked owners of Eco-boost about problems and couldn't hardly find any, but they really did like the extra power they created. Seems that Ford has mastered the Eco-boost thing. Ours doesn't have the rear seats in it and the mutts are trained to stay there.

I'd be interested in another Ranger. Mine's 20 years old, but it's 4wheel drive so can get still get around pretty well when we get "snowed" in. I don't tow anything with it, but still interested in how reliable the Eco-boost thing is.
