Yes, everyone should spell his name correctly, including you. He may even take offence the way you spelled his last name.

It's Chishti.

I fat fingered it, sorry. Being 70 I do that sometimes...

Unlike most, I don't get butt hurt either........

Thanks Moss for responding to my question and giving us some insight on your duties. Why anyone would want to do that is a mystery to me but thanks for doing it.
I left TNT after it was apparent that some booted from FP were up to their old tricks over there but I've been informed that 2 of the crew were kicked off recently. If true that will help that sight grow and be enjoyable again. So for those who tried it and left, try it again as I will.

Muhammad tries with his limited time and deserves our adult personalities to rise above the crass talk from some.

I think a fair majority of people on the forum bear a level of responsibility, I am quite sure I do.

Even some of my favorite posters have :stirthepot: on more than an occasion.

Mohammad is not going to cut off his nose to spite his face, his choice of "10" incidents tell us that.

His site is an awesome site, but it is nothing without people populating it creating "hits".

I am not sure what the answer is, I know I strive to do better, but then there is the "post police" that try to control everything, or the "self righteous" who thinks their poop dont stink. Or the incessant poster who has been on the site for a year and has more posts than 50% of us who have been here decades.

It truly amazes me as I read through the postings, how many people have commented and see "other" people violations, and how the "other" people may be on Moss's list but never even consider, they may be on said list!

I don't have a list. However, several usernames now appear in my auto text when I'm typing, so that tells you something.

Then you should have stated such. Your subtle attempt at using a conversational abbreviation in a present perfect situation sure sounded and read like a question.

So perhaps, since I am not familiar with your style, I read you wrong.

See how that works. DOH!
What I'm supposed to adapt my prose because of your comprehension problem?...I don't think so...! (don't bother answering)
Perhaps a remedial adult English class is what you need...a good indicator of a question being asked is the presence of a "?" at the end of the query...!

Reported posts go into a queue and all Mods are alerted and have access to that. If a Mod is online and gets the alert, the post can be edited or deleted almost immediately. If no Mod is online and a number of people start reporting things, the queue can build up as Moss said.and be much harder to weed through.

Filtering is also built into the platform software so offending words or phrases are replaced with **** automatically. The word censor file is probably limited to Admins though.
Editing the original post wouldn't be a big deal, its when its quoted 5 or 10 times (and then those replies are quoted) that it becomes unfeasible.

That's reported. I don't report, and yet a vast majority on the Political forum was in violation. Perhaps the moderators just looked the other way.
For the last couple years, only Muhammad was the only allowed to moderate the Politics forum (other than spam or someone posting something that was blatantly illegal).

I say - Follow the Rules. Don't post derogatory content or personally attack others. You don't follow those rules, you get a strike. And it's with you...forever.
10 strikes and your out.

Good luck I say, finding the happy medium.
But that would be logical and logic is bad.

Well, my little thread didn't quite make it to a quarter million views but it did have over 6000 posts. I was sorry to see it go, but I suspected in the last couple of days that it might go down the tubes and it did. I am surprised it lasted as long as it did. Didn't make 1 year either. Oh well.

Well we had the frozen drain plug that was quite entertaining.
So be creative come up with say frozen U-joint on a cutter......:D I'm sure we can push it to the edge of the forum hill and watch it gain speed on the way down....lol........
Enjoy your week..... :drink:

No, I'd really like to understand that post. You feel or you know that your posts are being scanned by a particular party?

Well, when you have an individual who responds to your posts VERY often and when he puts in many of his quotes "REPORTED" it does not take a rocket scientist to KNOW what is happening

Ahh...OK. I have seen that "REPORTED" a few times. Never thought much of it. Thanks for the info.

As for suspending and/or banning people, that's not a moderator function. It's up to the owners of TBN.

Perhaps it's time to think outside of the box and share suspending/banning power with the moderators? :soapbox:

I just hit the new post button and go from there. Since the forum has divested and narrowed focus, there are fewer threads that have interest to me, or I feel that I can contribute meaningfully to. Having said that, when I do run across a post that is the proverbial rectal extrusion in the punchbowl, I just tut to myself and move on. Primarily because I know that nothing I say will change their mind, nothing they say will change my mind, and further discourse is meaningless.
Perhaps if everyone would try and adopt that, and let the offending post hang there on it's own merit, much like the sign that Bill Engvall once opined that certain people should wear, the problems would diminish.

Editing the original post wouldn't be a big deal, its when its quoted 5 or 10 times (and then those replies are quoted) that it becomes unfeasible.

I understand that. But that goes to my thought of having enough Mods that at least one is on at all times and can catch those reports as they come in and make those edits before they get quoted several times. But that's also why I'm opposed to quoting entire posts rather than just the line or two you're responding to, as I did here.

I am fairly new to this place. I have been reading what interests me, and pass on by, what does not interest me.
I will have to say that this thread has been very entertaining to say the least. All 20 pages of it.
I am new, so it is still new and enjoyable reading for me so far. I believe most everyone here has something good
and interesting to contribute, especially the older members who are full of wisdom from being on here for years and years.
I was a moderator on a tractor forum for a few years. It may be different here, but there, the mod job was strictly voluntary.
After doing it a few years, I got burnt out, and it actually took me a few years before returning to that forum. I found out
I was much happier just being a member, posting and contributing, than being a moderator. Folks, being a moderator on
any forum, is a pain. believe me.
Why did I come here? I am interested in vintage and antique tractors and equipment. This forum has some of that,
where I can share what I have, or am working on and and look at what other folks on here have, or is working on, as well.
Thought ya'll might like a new person to maybe chime in and at least make one post.
Cheers :drink:

I understand that Muhammad has the deciding vote but I'd say mods get more power, there is count down to get booted 10 or even 5 and I think we have enough mods already.
