I dont see anyone offering that trailer with 96 in inside width and folding sides

Yes, just Diamond C and they are cost prohibitive on their dumps. Their flatbeds are competitive, kinda weird how high priced the dumps are.

Re: Building an 8 to 16 foot gooseneck dump trailer

Haydude, I know you really want a triple 8k axle trailer, but from my experience pulling one every day for a few years I wouldn't recommend it if you have an option.

Mine was a 50ft with 3 7k axles on a car hauler, I hated the way it maneuvered and handled. Using a buddy's identical trailer with the dual 10k axles was night and day.

I can imagine the shorter trailer would be even less fun.

I need that kind of feedback-thanks.
Researching trailers with 2 heavier axles rather than 3 lighter axles. Just have to figure out how to do it with folding sides and keep a reasonable budget.

One of the biggest problems is the sales people I have spoken to have no idea what theyre talking about and the trailer companies don’t seem to like direct contact from consumers.

Not that great is the short answer.....

I see 3) 8ks around and none seem to have broken front axles hanging from them or unhappy looking owners.
I would like to keep researching 2) 9k or 10k axles with single tires as far as I can.
I have contacted Diamond C, but I doubt its in the budget.
Still cant understand why 2) 8ks only get me a 16k rating (wheres my pin weight)
Appalachian only one I found that has more than 16k with 2) 8k axles, but dont have fold down sides :pullinghair:

The goal here is to build a trailer with ~7 ton load capacity, carry 10 4x5 round bales and fold down sides.

Maybe they just do 2 8ks for 16k for safety reasons and liability.....

I get that, but why do all flat deck trailers get pin weight added to their GVWR?
Makes no sense
