I get that, but why do all flat deck trailers get pin weight added to their GVWR?
Makes no sense
Idk....:confused3: Strange I try and call my load trail dealer on Monday and see what he says....

Maybe they just do 2 8ks for 16k for safety reasons and liability.....
only option for loading equipment is those miserable ladder ramps. The longer ones are better for loading angle, but then I thought can?t you buy the shorter ones and just tilt the dump up slightly to get rid of the hump at the back edge of the trailer?
You often get a lower rating for tandem use than for single use because of skid forces on tires and bearings
Yes, I do it all the time and I have a low pro. And yes, they are miserably heavy /awkward.
As far a GVW, there doesn't appear to be a standard. Manufactures are all different in how they arrive at their ratings. Some add pin weight, some don't. I think there is more at play than just the axle capacity, the frame, gooseneck and hitch all play a part. Then you add the owner/operator into the mix and you get any GVW, Lol.
PJ rates LESS than the sum total of their axles. 3)8k and 21k GVWR. Nice trailer though.
I think in the case of three axles it goes back to my #59 post.

Or copy & paste:
I think part of the GVW rating considers two or three axles. It might not be reasonable to expect one axle to carry the weight of three, but is okay for one axle to carry the weight of two. This is in a momentary situation where the ground is uneven. Dexter does not recommend a three axle torsion, because of this. With springs and equalizers it can still happen but chances are way less.
Yup, my old car hauler trailer was a triple 7k rated at 21k.Yeah I get that, but then why not with a triple axle flatbed trailer?
I see 3) 7k axle trailers rated at 21k or more all over the place.
Yup, my old car hauler trailer was a triple 7k rated at 21k.
My 10t is rated for almost 6k tongue weight (2 10k axles and rated for 20k lbs cargo capacity, trailer weight is about 6k)
My dump trailer has 2 6k axles and is rated at 16,800lbs gross.
What you are looking for is similar to what I want except I need a tag trailer. I want a 18ftx102in wide deckover dump with fold down or removable sides, oil bath 8 or 10k axles with 17.5 tires.
So far i haven't found anyone that makes that combination.
I think what we want would have to be custom, maybe I'll make one some day, maybe even make it a rollback style!
